Want to explain that a bit more for the ignorant? (me)

What is a 'sync up'? What does tmobile have to do with it? What did the dealer reset? Why was a fuse blown?

Sync up is a device by tmobile that plugs in your OBD port. It creates a Wi-Fi hotspot, and GPS tracker. I think it will show you driving habits too, say your teenager drives your car, you can see their speed (that may or may not be a feature).

One reason I didn't know what it was, as I don't want one. :D And I actually love my T Mobile phone service. Use it all over the world quite well at a great price.

Hoping he'll come back and explain what was 'reset' and why/what fuse was blown.

Now I know why inspectors (which gratefully we don't have) couldn't interrogate the ECU via the OBDII port to look for bad stuff. Seems like T Mobile is the root cause?

It seems to me if a fuse linked to OBD was blown, it would have caused some other issues. I am curious to know as well.
We have inspections, but ours are just pay 20 bucks for a 2 year sticker, they check your lights and horn.

Sync Up just caused me a $200 bill from Toyota to clear a problem it caused. It caused a problem with the Yaw rate sensor and Zero point calibration and resulted in the VCS and ABS lights to come on and could not be cleared. Dealer tested everything and it all was OK, the only thing that caused this was the Sync Up module plugged into OBD port. Reoccurred again three weeks later and confirmed it was the issue, dealer didn't charge and was happy to have identified the cause of the problem. Beware of Sync Up from T-Mobile.

My friend has had one forever, even beta tested them before they were released to the public; never had any issues with his and he too has a Tacoma now. I'd take the bill up with T-Mobile to see if they'd reimburse you, don't be an asshole when you ask them for help though or hit them with the caps lock rage in an email. Unless the terms and conditions of the Sync specifically state they aren't liable for any damages caused to your vehicle from use of the device, they should be able to help you out.
