2nd Annual AZBDR

Still showing pretty cold up in the mountains for the weekend for me. Shouldn't be bad at all during the day but the temps can still drop pretty low at night. Just don't want anyone coming unprepared and freezing their toes off, I've done that way too many times

 

Tomorrow is the start for several of us. Since this is my thread, I won't be able to monitor and update it very well from wherever I'm at so please post up any changes, questions or whatever that are still pending today.

Packing the truck tonight after work and will be heading out around 7am tomorrow!

 

Truck is getting packed throughout today and I head on down towards the border at 3 this afternoon.

Nope, no real conversation out side of this thread. I still haven't decided what Im going to do as far as leaving Phoenix. My day is filling up tomorrow so I don't know how early I'll be able to get out of town. If Im early enough to get down there in the afternoon I'll post up about it. I don't really want to get there after dark and be hunting around just to find the trailhead, let alone finding people after dark. My CB setup isn't super powerful so I cant really contact anyone more than 1/4 mile away. I just relocated my antenna too and haven't tried it or tuned it so I have no idea how well its going to work.

 

Where I’m Phx are you? I’m in Tempe and Scottsdale today. We could connect briefly to test radios.

Todd @xtremewlr are you planning on staying at the same site we stayed at on night one last year? The Cottonwood site?

 

The same site as last years trip? We could, yes but I was thinking that with the better weather this year, we might actually get further along since we will be able to travel somewhat faster with no snow on the ground.

 

Im in far North Phoenix at the moment and will be down in Phoenix proper or Arcadia later today to meet a coworker for lunch. My day is pretty slow so I can likely meet up and appreciate the offer to test radios, thanks. If you have have the GPS coordinates I have a Garmin unit I use when offroad and can just punch them in.

 

I'll also bring my SWR (CB Antenna tester) with me, so we can tune anyone's CB on the trail if they have not done so already.

All packed and ready to go Friday morning, now if my copilot was able to leave tomorrow I would meet you all on the border.

 

I'm not gonna make Thursday. I'll meet up with the group in benson on Friday morning.

Looks like it’s shaping up to be a good trip. Looking forward to the 3rd annual trip as it just didnt work out for me this year. Have fun and be safe AZTW

 

Plan for around the same time next year. We'll talk about it more in camp when we are all together but I think this time of year is really good for this trip.

 

Truck is all packed and ready to go. My co-worker and I should be getting to Montezuma Pass tomorrow around 9am.

 

Things are looking up for me to make an early getaway tomorrow afternoon. So long as I can be on a conference call during my drive down. Ill keep posting up, it will be a gametime decision, currently my schedule has me done at 12:30 so reality is leaving at ~2pm.
