You have a tapered rear block? How’s your alignment. Any Positive Camber? That lift height sometimes needs upper control arms for proper alignment

    Hi,
John here from down east offroad, all tacomas that get a leveling kit NEED upper control arms to help correct the control arm geometry and get the caster back into proper spec. we dont ever recommend a customer do a leveling without a SPC or icon upper control arm. this allows for us to get the alignment better then stock and make the ride way better. if you are using a Extended travel coilover or a coilover in general they should use upper control arms. not as for which ones there are some minor differences. LT coilovers should use an icon or SPC extended travel upper control arms to allow for the extra droop travel the coilover is capable of. you always want the coilover to catch the system not the ball joint. if you are running a stock coilover replacement a SPC upper is what you need to eliminate the shake. no matter what you can never get the caster back to the 4 degrees you need/want to see in these trucks without the UCA. that shake will always be there unless you can get near a 4 degrees of caster

    Thanks again guys.

If I were to get aftermarket UCAs, I’d likely end up pulling the trigger on full suspension setup. I’m beginning to consider it.

    Alignment numbers attached:
I will also attach a photo of my UCA as it sits just for sh#!s

This is why so many people recommend not wasting time and money on spacer lifts.

ya man you have bascially 0 caster. we like to put 3 to 4 degrees in for a nice steering feel. a set of UCA from Downeastoffroad.com isnt that bad. 5-600 bucks. but i dont ever like to let our in house customers do any leveling without them. they are hella important

OP you could ditch your spacer lift. Save for 5100’s all around. Set the front for 1.5” lift. Rear you could do a block or aal. Call it done. Alignment will be great. Just my 2cents. Good luck. Definitely get rid of The spacer lift. Been there. 5100’s are a perfect Option. Plenty of other great kits. Research that’s what I should’ve done. Now I’m set up perfect. 5100’s ride is great.
    Good luck

even with the 5100s you dont correct the caster issues. this needs a UCA

Nope 1.5” lift. had an off-road shop install. Alignment is fine. 2” or over sometimes control arms are necessary for proper alignment.

Plus if you want 285’ whole other ball game. 5100’s nice lift staying under 2” ride is great. Many members are running this set up no issues. There is a lot of great kits out there. 6112’s. Eibach stage 1. To name a few.

Good vid, I wonder how I didn’t stumble upon that one in my researching.

If I were to get 5100’s all around, it sounds like I’d still need UCAs (if I want 2”-2 1/2” lift).

Deo Taco- there are UCAs that are designed for 2-4” lift that are in $350 range. Are you for or against these? (Freedom Off-road are ones I’ve been reading about. Not adjustable but apparently put the geometry back in check

you should be able to get 2.5 caster on stock arms. unless you tell the shop you want max caster they aren't going to do it.

    Stock UCA as it sits.

Also, what’s the opinions of my pick with the dsriveshaft as it sits with the diff drop installed?

I think I agree with coop Cooper regarding the subtle vibe that UCA or not, it will still be a thing...

nope anything that is designed or built to add caster for the near area where normal driving happen. i know we have a couple of forum warriors on here but here my final 2 cents. i do this for a living, we do this all the time. when we do UCA we never have issues ever. o i also was a GM performance engineer so what do i know
