Thanks! I originally ordered a less expensive ARE topper when I was buying the truck (sticker shock and all made me want to keep the price down) but then saw one driving around with that same topper and didn't like the look at all so called them up and upgraded to the GB Sport. Definitely the nicest topper I've had on a truck to date. And it's dog-approved!

Those wheels are the FN FXPro with 265 17s. The only rub came from the mud flap. Admittedly, I have changed them again.

Here is how it sits now. I still chose FN Wheels but went with 285 16s

More stable, less squirm, also allows you to run higher psi to carry the load.
P series Toyo A20 on our truck max out at 44psi and somewhere around 2000lbs. Toyo R/T E going on carry 2900lbs at 80psi.

Yes they weigh much more, mileage will go down, some people find the ride too rough.. life is full of choices.

You can also buy a Bluetooth OBD2 reader and an app and monitor stuff via your phone. There’s a whole sticker somewhere on OBD Fusion.

Re: brake controller. I’m really happy with my Redarc install and performance.

It's a 2015 Cricket, made by Taxa Outdoors in Houston, TX:

    https://taxaoutdoors.com/camper-trailers/cricket/

They've made a lot of improvements since we bought ours, and the price has gone up considerably/. It's a great little trailer though. We've had some issues with it, but we love it.

My 2016 SR5 3.5L 4wd DCSB AT towed my ~2300 lb boat easy peasy at 70-80mph as long as I had the top on it. Without the top it became annoyingly sluggish. It could pull the boat out of water at near idle in most cases. I only once needed 4wd to pull up a sand covered ramp. I have a 2020 OR MT now, but it has not yet towed the boat because it is winter here.

I had a tigermoth (also made by taxa). It was great in so many ways and not in so many others. With 2 adults and 2 labs, it became awfully crowded so that's why I sold it and went with the pursue.

Yeah, the TM didn't even exist in 2015 when we bought our Cricket, but it wouldn't have fit our requirements anyway. We wanted something that we could stand up in with an indoor kitchen that would fit in our garage. The Cricket is perfect in that regard.

Something that should be considered is frontal area, how tall is the trailer?
You'll see some of these smaller trailers have a low profile, but a trailer standing well above your truck's roofline, will have a huge negative impact.

This is true. Last year I had my snowmobile in the bed of my F150. It's (tiny) windshield was sticking above my roof and it cost me 3 MPG on the highway. I removed it and my MPGs shot right back to normal.

This pic give a good idea of how small the windshield is.

Can you post where you mounted your scan gauge? I pulled mine from my old 80 series Cruiser, and have not put it in the taco.

I put mine in front of the display with velcro. Been there for a year. No problems.

    Thanks!
With my trailer arriving this weekend, I may pop that in when I add brake controller.

That's a good point. This camper is pretty tall and pushes a lot of wind. I get the same fuel economy in my Dodge diesel pulling it as I do pulling my horse trailer that weighs several thousand more pounds.

I think I'm going to hook it up this weekend and give it a little whirl down the county road.

OP if I had a full size I wouldn't tow with my setup. Long Bed 4x4, six inch lift, 33's that are E rated and travel trailer at 3300 pounds.
S-4 only and on "hills" it's an un-nerving 4k RPM's on the tach in 3rd gear with overall MPG at 6-9 average and best ever was 11MPG.
Stock will perform better for sure. Lifted, towing and 33's not so much. Your truck is damn nice looking though. Good luck.

I've towed my popup all over central Texas; admittedly not many mountain crossings. I've got Dick Cepek Extreme Country M/T 255/85R16 (33" pizza cutters!!) on the truck (E rated, but one of the lightest in the size). I do have the manual transmission, so I'm totally comfortable with power output. I can get up to 80+ mph if I want. Fuel economy while towing is 10-14 mpg, depending.
