You pointed out they are holding 14v on stock without the big 3 and on stock alternator, so it is something you were talking about.
I was pointing out most anything will if you only use them for stock reasons. Put them to a test that is hard on them, daily use is not much of a test and neither is an occasional winch use.

Put a few hard winch loads in a row on that stock alternator and it want last much longer. I have one that has 345000 on it but it is a daily driver.

Bad internal voltage regulator :notsure:. Seems silly to outright say Optima sucks because of someone else's terrible and uncommon experience with it. Nobody here is not buying Toyotas because of 1st gen Tacoma's frame rust and LBJ failures.

Yea that seems to be the only logical explanation if it truly were "stock" otherwise.
And that's why I like to have a voltage gauge to keep an eye on charging voltage.
If that were the cause of the incident, maybe keeping an eye on voltage could have prevented it.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    Again...you're changing the subject.

I pointed out that I have not done the big 3 and I'm running a stock alt because it was said that Optima has to have some sort of upgraded system to work correctly.

I offered that as evidence that is not the case.

That's the second time I've said that, and I'm pretty sure I'm talking in English.

Seems you are hoping to start some kind of side arguement about the big 3 and it's benefits... only I probably agree with you on 100% of it regarding the big 3.

Again... I'll spell it out.... you do not need an upgraded alt, or the big 3, or anything else to... SPECIFICALLY... run an Optima battery. What you do need is a properly functioning and properly wired system to run ANY AGM battery. AGMs are all more sensitive to charging issues.

    parked truck in garage
revved motor in neutral to approximate RPMs (2.1k) where last summers insane vibe was occurring (checking if it was a loose heat shield under there and the garage effect would induce an echo for possible assurance)

    Lol
I really dont care what you were talking about. I was pointing out if you use the batteries and the stock alternator that you was pointing out was fine it will not last long. It may work for the mall crawlers that do upgrades to impress their friends but if you use them for what most people that actually offroad do the upgrades for, stock will not last long, that was and is my point.

on another note, @Uphillshunter I'm thinking about some louver panels on my truck sometime this year. Did u notice much benefits from the panels?

I figure with me being in Az it would be nice to have them when its 120 degrees out and I'm bombing up mountains to go comping during the summer lol

you’d be a lot better off with a aluminum radiator and springs in the radiator hoses for cooling

They seem to help... they definately don't hurt. Heat goes up so providing more holes on top of the engine compartment will definately allow more of the hot air to pass through.

I installed the louver panels around an inch in from the hood body line... I wish I would have installed around 2.5 inches inside the hood body line. It would have hit the hood sub structure in a better spot and allowed even more air to pass through.

I did that on purpose..... so if I'm camping etc, if someone (other than me) needs to use the power. I tell them use the blue one... that way it's not coming off my starting battery... they are both wired constant power.
