for the folks that have changed the gear oil on the rear/front differential,

how troublesome was it to change the oil? estimated time from start to finish?

An hour to drain. It's thick oil.

Make sure the fill plug can be removed before removing drain plug. Fill plugs are known to be siezed in place since they don't live in an oil bath like the drain plug.

Will need 10 minutes or less to fill diffies.

Not a thing. The next purchase is hopefully gonna be an axle for the camp trailer.

 

Here in Michigan, EVERY fastener or plug gets a dab of antisieze when I remove it for the 1st time.

As far as I know it's just knickle based AS.

I would check into this marine grade AS, but I really don't think I will go thru the can I got now in this lifetime.

 

I'm the same way on the anti-seize. The marine grade works well for saltwater conditions. Not sure how it would work up there.

 

One of the AL guys linked me to a company that will build a custom width 3500lb 6 lug axle for $159. He got his shipped for less than $200.

Came in and we have a new monitor for this computer.
Now I can watch Amazon work on a nicer screen...

 

The company is pretty big in the Jeep community. They deal with dinoot trailers(it's a fiberglass version of the military m416)
