Looking for info on what fits my 2020 Access cab. I see many shells for sale but not sure of what fits. I see shells off of 2nd gen long beds and shells off other makes of trucks. Hoping there is a cap fitment thread somewhere.

    You either have a SB (5’) or a LB (6’)...2020 is 3rd Gen (2016-2020)

I've been looking. Most of the sellers don't tell you the size. Crazy why they don't. I have a access also with a 6'

Yes, but seeking Info as to what fits the 6ft 3rd gen. I'm assuming that not all 6ft shells will fit my 3rd gen tacoma. Basically looking for cross over fitment.

Leer comes to mind. They may not show the exact truck in their pictures but they will have something that fits. There may be a canopy place around you too.

If you're talking used, there is none except a tape measure. New, each manufacture has on that fits exactlly.

No first hand experience, but I have heard that 2nd gen canopies will fit, but the angle of the back of the cab and the front of the canopy won't match.

For that, you’re on your own... I haven’t seen an interchange guide for bedcaps. The attachment for 2nd and third are different as well as the mentioned cab alignment. Happy hunting!

Only two lengths. Only Tacoma 16-20. Thats it. Ford, GM, earlier Toyotas won't fit. There does not need to be a guide because there is only one solution.

Couple of problems that have already been mentioned - cab fitment (angle between cab and shell), tailgate fitment, as well as different shell height.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/does-a-2nd-gen-camper-shell-fit-on-a-3rd-gen.408991/

Post #15 has a picture of a 2nd gen shell on a 3rd gen.. if you're okay with how that looks and the rear door not closing then maybe it's for you. With any other shell you are guaranteed to get worse fitment. Only way to see is to try it on, as I don't think many people have attempted to buy a shell made for a different truck.

Edit: I will add that contractor (aluminum) shells may be more universal in fit since they are less contoured than their fiberglass counterparts. In addition, the door usually closes on top of the tailgate rather than over it, so I think it is possible to have an older aluminum shell on a 3rd gen. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, though.

I spent about 6 months looking for a top for mine, and _all_ of them are custom to the truck they are designed to fit. Which makes sense, as square as we like to imagine truck beds being, they all are just different enough to really matter (especially if you want it weather tight). Its super inconvenient when sellers can't tell you what they come off of.

I did find this chart helpful though to see what was close:
    https://raybuck.com/pickup-truck-bed-size-dimensions/

The easiest thing will be to find one for a 3rd gen, then a 2nd gen. After that you might look at something off a 05+ up frontier. I think those are the only ones that will be close.

It sounds like you are trying to determine what may fit your bed based on used/second hand sale (apologies if I misunderstand your post). If this is a correct assumption, I would work backwards...in general start with your bed length (does it ft?), if yes, what year (2020)...what model/year is the seller offering? Go to the OEM Shell website and see if that model fits your truck.
