I have driven other vehicles with safety tech never a Tacoma. I must ignore the BSM alerts because I only notice the BSM on rare occasions.

this is a pretty simple fix honestly. the tail light is like a no brainer to diy its about a 5-10 min job. If you have any paint experience the bumper cover would be easy to paint and install. I did it myself as a mod to my sr5 to paint match my ugly chrome bumper covers and they came out perfect. I bought the paint in a quart and used a harbor freight paint gun.

I would go the cheap route unless you won’t be able to sleep at night. Replace the tail light, pop the bumper out. I replaced both my taillights and my truck is dinged up already. I’m in the fortunate position of not really caring though.

Curious as to why you would not use your BSM?

Yeah I was hit turning left in bad weather by a 16 year old with 9 kids in her van. My insurance never went up.

My car was totaled every airbag deployed and the front bumper was slightly clipped. Long story short I agree.

Okay guys, thx for all the advice.

Quick Update: woke up this morning and was at the local dealership by 715am. They were asking $212 for the tail light, they gave it to me for $160. Came home from work, installed it in 5 mins, glad to have that part fixed.

Not sure what I'm going to do about the bumper yet.

The dealership wanted $128 for the bumper cap, unpainted. Said another $225 to paint. I have that midnight black that shows the blue flakes, so I'm prob not going to be able to paint it myself to match.

I was able to push some of the dent out, without taking the caps off. I'll probably take the bumper off this weekend to see if there was any damage or if I can get the remaining dent to pop out.

    All the things!
I messaged you this AM, but haven't heard back from you. I have a driver's side bumper support structure in like new condition. If yours is damaged, you can have it.

Glad to hear that this is turning into a relatively cheap repair.
