    Hi All,

Do not post very often but am a frequent lurker. I have a 2nd gen (2014, double cab long bed). Love my truck, and it has served me well. More recently I wanted to expand my trucks utility by adding a camper shell.

I tried searching my issue but had trouble finding anything related.

I recently bought a used Leer 100XQ from someone in my local area for my 2nd gen 4x4. The previous owner had used it on a 2nd gen 2wd. Went to go mount it and could only get three of the 4 bolts to line up without force. I did not want to flex the cap out and risk damaging anything. I played with the cap positioning to no avail. Here's a picture of both the drivers side and passanger side:

As you can see the passenger side hole causes the bought to come in at too much of an angle to be threaded.
Does anyone know if the holes in the shell are drilled at the factory or at the dealer?

Was contemplating filling the holes with epoxy and drilling so that they better line up with the t-nuts. In any case, I did order some clamps off Amazon just in case I had an issue. My truck bed may also be slightly off as I was hit on the drivers side two years ago.

    Appreciate the help!

I have the same cap. All 4 line up with no problem.

If it is not lining up in the back, the cap may be spreading. You can push in, then tighten.

That is a good point, I just dont want to push it in too much and fasten it down, risking putting too much pressure on the shell and cracking it. When i did this, the bolts loose all play.

Use the lift gate to help align, making sure the gap is even. Get a buddy to help, one guy inside, one out.

Are both sides typically flush right up to the bed rail cap?

Yes, sorta. Go by your lift gate door gaps, they should be even.

Thanks for the input! I will give it a shot today, and see if the results differ. I may try fastening the front bolts first and then try to rear.

There is a little overhang. Maybe 1/2” to let water drip down and off the cap. If you are solo a ratchet strap may be useful!
