That's funny. It's the Mythbusters episode where they took a city bus and tried to flip it in a high speed corner. They used the scene from the first Speed movie. The fact that people south of the border cannot see it kinda ruins my "Just saying!"

They never did flip it, even deflating on side of the airbags and forcing a lean to the outside corner.

 

Alone it doesn't because load transfer is a function of cg height, lateral force, and track width along with an additional term of vehicle momentum and body angular momentum. Body roll only increases roll over risk if it affects one or more of those terms in the negative. Which isn't a guarantee.

 

I’ve written your posts off as reactionary panic posts with the substance of a screaming day care center director, and will regard them as useless in the real world.

Will not be installing a sway bar

 

I'm keeping my swaybar on, but definitely going over seth's place and tossing his in the dumpster.

 

I remember taking the chain guard off my bicycle when I was a kid. Man that thing went fast. I got my pant leg caught in the sprocket one day and ended up with "road rash face." I am careful about taking things off these days.

 

If we’re equating these to chain guards then I’m gonna have to dig up my sway bar just so I can throw it away AGAIN

 

I removed my sway 2 weeks after I bought the truck. She leans like a fat bitch on a roller-coaster.

 

Ive tried to roll my truck without the sway bar and literally couldn't. Tacoma's are not that top heavy compared to most pickups

 

Ran without sway bar after Kings with 700 lb springs and 0 offset wheels, it was great. Then I put stock wheels on for a bit and the body roll didn't feel right with me, it was pretty bad. So I put sway bar back on and it does make a difference. I wouldn't recommend removing it if you daily your truck, have stock or shitty suspension and drive fast especially with wheels that don't poke out your fenders.

 

The best performance mod I have done is to add hellwig sway bars front and rear. Wakes the truck up in terms of on-road performance. So much more fun to drive and stable in the corners. I guess it would limit off-road articulation, not sure. I would disconnect the sway bars if that were the case. If I rock crawled, I would install quick disconnects and have the best of both worlds.

 

That is my whole point.


If folks don't like the ride, esp on uneven bumps and such, try the SBD. If it doesn't feel right whether after mods or not, put it back on.

 

Nahhh, we don't like logic here. What you said makes a bit too much sense and I'm getting uneasy.

 

No doubt. On my old FWD car that would understeer like a plow, I went from a coat hanger rear sway bar to this 7/8in monster. It was neutral and would tend to oversteer with lift off. It made the car flatter, gave more traction to the inside front tire, and was fun as fuck.

For me, my Taco just didn't need the jarring ride over bumps on or off road. Still fun to corner with, IMHO.

 

Logic definitely hurts the brain!

 

There's not a single Jeep that came from the factory with quick disco end links. It wasn't until the JK model Rubicon that Jeep introduced the electric disco, which essentially severs and re-connects the bar itself at the motor housing.

 

Might as well lower the Tacoma while he's at it...car tires on a street bike....smh
