My old man is a painter. So I'll just pay him to do any painting. Honestly though, I could easily do it at home with a pop up car port and paint gun/compressor setup.

I paid 3500 total to have my tundra painted. That was color change jamed, and fixing all the dents (i told him not to worry about waves in the bed, paid 200 for the whole bed so meh) and they also straightened the frame.

Looks nice! Unfortunately, per my chain of command (military) Mexico isn’t an option :(

I have a very high standard regarding vehicle finishes. I could have used great as opposed to highlighted good, to describe a near perfect/issue-free paint job consisting of no runs, very limited orange peel (if any) consistent coverage/gloss, clean clear finish.
Having said that, nothing is perfect. If you look long and hard enough under proper light you will most likely find slight imperfection in any paint job.

I had Aaron at CARS do some repairs for me, great great job. You would need to go by and get a quote for full paint job.

Just called, sounds very knowledgeable. He said if it is exactly how I described it without looking at it in person, a mid grade clear coat type of job would run me 5500-6500 if I didn’t do prep work my self. But if I did prep work I could shave off probably up to 2000.

oh yes, you will definitely save if you do a bit of the prep work yourself. Saved 1500 on my paint job

I wouldn't recommend doing prep work yourself unless you have experience with such as a paint job (regardless of cost) is only as good as the prep work.

A lot prep he can do that’s not body work. Pull door glass, all the trim pieces, moldings, door seals, window trims, grill, etc. as close to a shell as possible but still can drive it to the shop.

Sure there is, however unless you fully know what you are doing it's a BAD idea.

What's the brand new $5000 paint job going to look like after a novice re-installs door glass, all the trim pieces, moldings, door seals, window trims, grill, etc.? An then too there's the components that will be destroyed removing them and cost to replace.
Very good chance it will look like a scratched-up, dent-up, scuffed-up mess.
Leave it to the professionals unless you have the specific skill set.

You can teach 16 year old kids how to do that and end up with quality on par with how it rolled off the line. There's no magic involved in it.
