Also make sure that the black 3.5 mm lookin plug on the left side of the radio is plugged in. It might have come unplugged when you pulled the radio out.

I know what you're referring too, and it did take some effort to get it to set all the way into the stereo.. double and triple checked it. Everything is connected securely.

I'll be totally honest, I've had that radio out at least 100 times (previous car-puter mod) - and I have no clue what wire connection you'd be referring too, there are 4 square harnesses that plug into the stereo directly, and the antenna plug, no plugs even come close to resembling a 3.5mm jack.

Also, everything else works fine, AM/FM/CD/Aux all work as normal, its as if nothing was changed as far as the stereo is concerned, but the ipods seem to know something is hooked up - just pluged in my nano and it even shows the Axxess splash screen and charges. Just no response out of the stereo to indicate it even knows its there.

I just installed mine (same deal, $15 shipped) and it works great. It even charges my 2nd gen. Nano! Although some folks seemed to have problems with the connector either going in or staying in, mine just clicked right in and locked in place.

I had to go into the iPod and turn the equalizer settings off to get sound out of it, but now it sounds great!

What stereo do you have? I'm trying to figure out why mine isn't working. I have 6-disc non-JBL w/ Sat wiring.

I have the 6-disc non-JBL w/o satellite functionality or wiring. I only used two "pigtails" of the T-harness: one plugged into the white box, and the other plugged directly into a (vacant) socket in the back of the radio. There was nothing to plug into the female end of the harness (since the female socket on the radio was empty).

Oh yeah, make sure you set the equalizer ("Settings", "EQ") on your Nano to "off". I didn't get any sound until I did that.

I think he's talking about the antenna lead.

First off I want to thank the OP for sharing the link... great find!

I also just ordered mine recently and got it within 4-5 days... hooking it up took no time at all.

I have the JBL radio and a iPod touch 2g... once I hooked mine up I got the "accessory attached" message and it wouldn't let me control the iPod when hooked up... When using the iPod I do 90% podcasts and 10% music.... I have a long drive to work so it helps kill time.... anyways controlling music was great with this thing but using podcasts wasn't so I had to by pass the "accessory attached" screen so I went inside "jailbroke" the iPod and installed the noaccessorysplash screen add-on... worked like a champ... now I can control the iPod and manage my podcasts.

    Thanks again OP!

I think either of those might be my issue, I was plugging the sat feed into the other female end of the T-harness. I'm not using satellite, so will try unplugging that part. Not sure if having the EQ on was effecting anything because I wasn't even getting the option on the stereo for anything other than CD or AUX. Will keep everyone updated.

I think he was too. Either way, that would have no effect on anything in the system really I've went months without having that plugged in (not realizing it) :p

I have a 2nd gen Ipod Touch that has been jailbroken and it won't charge it.... from my understanding this isn't a software thing but how Apple changed the hardware for the battery recharge... This ipod controller uses firewire to supply power (12V) where most of the ipods today use usb (5V) so that's why it won't charge it.

It does charge the 1st gen iPod Touch - though seems either a) the version i received doesn't work (charges, doesn't play) or b) it's not compatible with a 2010 non-jbl 6-disc changer - because I can't get this thing to work for shit.. it shows charging, but that's it.

This thread made my night. I have the toy-15 ipod adapter installed since my 1st gen iphone, now im rocking the 3gs and after a firmware update 5 months ago it hasn't worked with the adapter, I've since jailbroken and unlocked my phone, and tried a few differant packages from cydia, and this one worked. Rock on!

I've had a few times where the stereo didn't recognize the iPod even though it was plugged in. After playing with the cables for a minute and restarting the truck it worked just fine. No idea what the issue was.

Sound is a lot louder with the EQ settings on the iPod turned off, however you can get better sound (with lower volume though) with the EQ on.

Axxess has the cable to use the headphone jack on the iPod with the adapter, but I don't know the price. My 2nd gen iTouch doesn't charge with the Axxess adapter, but usually when I'm at home its in a dock so it almost always is fully charged. Even on road trips I usually won't have to charge for awhile. If you turn off the wifi on the iTouch it saves SOO much battery.

I have an 05 non JBL. Question 1. How do you remove the radio/CD unit? and question 2, where do you get the Ipod lead from?

    Thanks

use a soft (plastic) pry tool to pry out the climate control panel, be careful not to scratch the plastic surrounding the area. Once thats pulled out you will see 4 bolts that hold the factory radio in.

You need to get an adapter like the toy-15, or the metra to interface the ipod/iphone to the factory radio. I recommend installing the actual adapter "box" under the cup holder in the center behind your shifter. plenty of room back there, and then run the wire into the center console cubby. Gives it a clean install, others have routed the wire to the cubby directly under the climate controls in front of the shifter, and still others have routed the wire into the glove box - its really personal preference.

I'm on my 5th drink of tequila or so, I would post links, but will let you know that if you search, you will find a wealth of information/pictures of how to do the instal. Should only take you an hour or so.

I got and installed this today on my lunch break. Actually, I got two of these Metra adaptors today... don't know how techforless.com can stay in business selling things at 1/10th the price they go for elsewhere, let alone sending two of them for the price of one, but oh well...

I don't know about all of you, but mine came with 2 cables between the dock connector and the plug that goes into the black (err.... white, actually) box that goes behind the radio. Since I got an extra, and nothing else to do with it, I'm tempted to break the dock connector apart and see which cable sends the +12v signal, then toy around with another older usb cable to see where the +5v signal goes. If I can find them, I may try to see if one cable is for power and the other cable is for audio, and see what I can do about hiding a cig lighter adaptor that charges my iphone behind the dash and combining the two cables. I'll let everyone know my findings.
