New to the form, I have had a couple tacomas over the years though. What would be the better purchase a left over 2019 TRD Pro or OFF Road with premium package? I can buy for same price. I am in Canada so keep in mind the Off road premium does not have the new LED headlights(only led daytime running lights). Both trucks are automatic. Let me know your guys thoughts.

I had the same exact debate. I had the choice between a 2019 White Pro or a 2020 OR fully loaded (premium package, black bezel LED lights, and a bunch of options). They had the Pro discounted to about $42k and I got my 2020 for $41k. Even if it was the same price or a little more I’d prefer to have a newer model year, new headlights, Carplay, and powerseats.

If same price pro all day. The 2020 has nothing the 19 won’t minus the mediocre car play and power seat. The pro has a better suspension

That is completely subjective and even then depends on many factors. If you want a bunch of dumbass strangers spending your money for you, how about you start with explaining what you want out of the truck?

2020 IMO has had a lot of upgrades that you cant see. It just feels better to drive than my previous 2016 tacoma. I would say go for the 2020. But thats just my personal preference. Having a 2019 Pro would be pretty dope but I felt the difference driving the 2020 for the first time, IMMEDIATELY! Its just a smoother and better ride and it just seems like they addressed a lot of the concerns that faced the 2016-2019 models. I'm not sure what they changed, exactly. I just know it feels better to drive.

I am leaning more towards the 19 Pro, I prefer the hood scoop, wheels, and truck being all blacked etc. Honestly I do not do much if any off road driving so it's more about looks and resale value in a few years for me. Power seats don't matter to me on the 2020 but upgraded stereo etc of course would be nice and the multi camera is cool(not in 2019 Pro im assuming?). If I bought the 2020 I feel like I would want to put the Pro wheels and grill on it as well.

I have a 2018 DCLB offload and a 2020 TRD Pro. the 2020 just feels better inside. I would go 2020 offload over the 2019 TRD Pro

Sounds like you know what you want and what you like. Now go grab that truck and make it yours!

Early congrats on your taco! You’ll love it.

You’ll be happy with either truck. It all depends on what you value most. Hood scoop also had me on the edge :)

I just went through this...and took the 19 pro. Zero regrets. The interior alone had me sold. Maybe it's the stitching in the leather, or the trim, but get out of one truck and into the other for a comparison. I could care less about exterior badging, as I sit inside the truck. Absolutely loving it and enjoying the savings I grabbed on the pro.

Nothing mechanical changed though? Just options? Power seats, led headlights, car play. Pretty sure suspension and transmission are the same between models. Pros have upgraded suspension compared to off roads. Differwnt tires too I think. Maybe thats the difference you felt?

I drove 19s and 20s next to each other. The 19 pro with fox suspension felt better to me. The interior was nicer in the pro. I have no idea what other mechanical changes were made 19 to 20, but I recently learned that the 19 pro had a coil change mid year. Mine was built 11/19 and has a different coil than earlier builds. At the end of the day you're going to find Meso, SCS, DD, SSO, and mod the shit out of both of them, so just pick the one that looks best to you! :D:D

Ya I don’t anything mechanically/power train has changed. On paper the savings compared to MSRP is about $10,000(give or take) difference on the 19 Pro. I know In the US you can see more off MSRP s on Tacoma’s than in Canada’s. I’m only getting around $2000(a little less) off the 2020 off road but almost $12000 off the 19 Pro. Now I get the difference in years is a factor.

Hmm I stand corrected. I just can definitely tell a difference in even the sound of the ignition when cranking the truck is different than my 2016. The suspension feels smoother (same tires on my 2020 that came on my 2016) though I guess nothing has been changed. Interesting. If really nothing has changed then go with the Pro... I just cant help but feel like the 2020 rides different but maybe it's just me.

Went with the 19 Pro, just couldn't pass up the deal on it. Got 20% off msrp and no dealer fee's. I know it doesn't have a few of the 2020 features but if I bought the 2020 Off road I would have wanted to put pro wheels and grill in it at the very minimum. I am picking the truck up friday.

Very cool. Only 20 feature I’d really want is the lights, so without that, I think you made a good choice. Look forward to some pics

I just did this exact same thing and went with the Pro. I actually went for a 2020 Offroad and ended up with a new 19 Pro for less. I drove both back to back and the Pro definitely felt and handled better.

I had CarPlay and disliked it - the only good thing about it was having Waze on the screen but the actual functionality of waze is limited when using CarPlay so I didn’t even like doing that. And when it was mirroring (at least on the car I had it on) I couldn’t do basic things I wanted to do like change audio settings without unplugging the phone and stopping CarPlay completely.

My hangup was on the power seats as I’m 5’7 and was worried about the seat being too low but my head is about 2” from the roof with the sunroof so that ended up not mattering anyway. Also I didn’t see where there was any memory function for the power seat (I could have just missed it) which is a pain.

I could do without the hoodscoop though and I’m not sure how I feel about the exhaust yet. After having a 5L V8 with a Corsa exhaust it’s pretty lame sounding in comparison and I so far feel like I’d rather not even hear it lol.

That's the only feature I cared about as well so I bought some for my 17 and called it good.
