Yeah I'm not sure I'm ready either. Seems like every time I go out for drive I find something else I need to fix. I need to get a few shake down runs in.

I'm in! Looking forward to getting out in the woods with you guys.

Also, pretty sure if my truck can make it thru the rubicon, yours will be totally fine. looking forward to running it again this year.

    ^THIS^

I'm not sure how the snow pack and road closures are looking up there. I want to do Eagle Peak and Niagara Rim as soon as we can get in there (as soon as the wedding is done). I'm thinking those are pretty close to home and tame enough not to break shit, but testing enough to show potential problems.

Now... THAT is reassuring... I'm pretty sure I'd be good. But I'd be a LOT more sure if I'm with you guys (ma brothas) out there

Oh yeah, couldn't have done it without multiple tugs and great spotting from @Don5352 and his buddy. I ran it with full BAMF skids and sliders, front and rear steel bumpers, and a winch. I used all of the armor since I was the shortest truck (33"s with a sagging front end due to needing stiffer springs). I scraped my way thru and over obstacles. I will say make sure you have spares and plenty of tools to change out the parts. I picked a stupid rock to avoid in a stupid easy spot and of course didnt avoid it and instead broke my drive shaft. without my spare, I would have been done on day 1 just past the slabs.

your truck will be just fine.

I have some spares... I need to talk a certain someone I know out of a set of manual CV spares :boink:

Normally carry lower ball joints, belts, fluids etc. I have a rear section of driveline I can carry... just need them spare CVs
And I'm going to order me up a full set of spare brake lines.

I figure the 35s, extra gearing, and front and rear lockers will definitely help. Without those, I'd be a little nervous running the Rubicon. Especially since no winch.

I carry the entire two piece rear drive shaft (stock take off from @EDDO) since my current drive shaft isn't compatible (Double Cardan drive shaft from South Bay Drive Line). add some ujoints and ubolts and you have my spares kit list.

Looking forward to another wheelin’ trip with you guys. I’ve been busy with 60 hour work weeks and camping but I check in here and read. Managed to get out and camp for a day last weekend and actually got stuck in some snow. My buddy winched me out and now I want/need a winch :) Nothing 10 minutes of digging wouldn’t have got me out of but damn that made it easy

Damn... them some rough hours! Sounds like you need a forrest recharge just as much as I do... I'm chompin at the bit to get out there. I don't even care... day trip... camping trip... I just want to go.

This winter has seemed to be basically non existant... what are some of the road situations up there?

Yeah, been doing it since November. The upside is the paycheck.
I’ve been getting mountain time weekly regardless and last week camping mellowed me out tremendously.
Everything is closed until Apr. 15th for the most part, stanislaus forest doesn’t care that there is no snow. Cherry lake area and beardsley are the only places open to travel that I know of.
