    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    1) So here's the problem with your entire line of thought. The guy who originally asked about an Optima battery doesn't even have a winch.

    2) The guy was told that he should look at any other AGM other than Optima because Optimas suck (in general)

My point was that is a myth... it's bullshit. Never said that Optima can not suck on any application... just that the rumor that they suck (in general) and that they aren't going to burn down your truck just because they were made in Mexico (a point that was attempted at one point, not by you)

Then the point that Optimas need some sort of special charging system to work was brought up. I offered that an upgraded charging system is not needed to run Optimas.

That's where you came in... you're original post in this particular discussion quoted my post... you said absolutely nothing about an Optima, you just took out one piece of the conversation (big 3) and told me I was somehow wrong about it, because winching, or something. But in reality, I agree with you that the Big 3 is a useful upgrade (I just haven't gotten around to it) but the point remained... and STILL REMAINS the big 3 upgrade is not necessary to run an Optima... or an AGM... and especially in the case of the guy who asked the question... that doesn't even currently have a winch.

I tried to tell you that what you were saying didn't have anything to do with what was being discussed... I tried again to tell you AND that I actually agree with you that the Big 3 is a useful upgrade... You still wanted to argue... when no one else was even arguing about it.

And then you decided that it would be cool to stock my build page for two hours and talk shit on how I must not know what I'm talking about because the use of my truck does not meet with your approval.

And somehow... after that... It's me that's being childish and argumentative?

I was the one that originally asked about battery options. That is correct, I do not have a winch. Only LED lights. I wanted a battery that would have given me the option to install a winch if i chose to get one in the future. I have always heard good things about optimas in the past and that was why I specifically asked about them. I didn't hear bad things about it until I posted my question. For my application (daily driver with some light off-roading and camping, often times in the cold cause thats climbing season in the high deserts, so cold start was important) I believe the optima would have been fine. However, my battery seemed like it was gonna die pretty fast and the store i bought my battery from didnt have the red top in stock. Being the X2 was $50 more in stock and had an additional 2 years of warranty, I went with that. Had the optima been in stock, I wouldnt mind saving the $50 to apply somewhere else. Hopefully my stock alternator will be fine with the X2 as how yours is with the optimas. Either battery would have been fine for me I'm sure.

Ditto...for me it was having a pregnant wife and then a baby, definitely shifts priorities around and you don't get out as much lol. I still get out on easy local trails just to get out of the city and get some fresh(er) air, but haven't been able to do a real trip or 4x4 trail since early last summer.

On the plus side I don't really break anything while pounding pavement and I've been able to slowly focus on working on things with the truck that I've put off for awhile.

Mine was a job that was sucking my soul out of me and taking up all my time. I had a trip planned in the fall but a health issue related to that job from hell kept me from being able to go. That's all behind me now!

I was skeptical at first but seeing it in person it seems good. Comes with the rubber and the clip needed. I got the grey but they have tan too. I was sick of the old one but never willing to pay $90 for it.

Same here... and they seem like they are always one of the first things gone on a part out.

I'm possibly going to change out the seats entirely, so that's been playing a factor in not wanting to spend the money ($90) but at that price, I may just order it up and it can go with the seats if/when I get rid of them.

Haha. Man. I am in the same boat. I've been looking at brz/frs seats because they are then nicest cheapest I can find. But for the $26, I can live with the stock seats for a little while longer. That plastic was pinching my ass getting in and out lol.

    No doubt... I hear that.

My son just bought a project T4R, the front seats are pretty worked over. He found a really sweet deal on some BMW 330i seats. I'm going to see how bad fabbing brackets goes on those... if it goes pretty well, I'm going to probably pick up similar seats.

But again... at that price, I may swipe some of those plastics anyway.
