if 20k is your budget maybe you shouldn't be looking at 3rd gens just saying. unless your ok with a 2016 with 150k on it already

 

You are right probally 15 to 16k would be resonable..

Man been looking for a used one for a while.. they are expensive af. Trd sport or 4x4 nothing less that 27k and that with maybe 50k to 80k miles.

yeah even in texas nothing less that 28 to 35k for a good truck

 

I had a salvage title car once, it wasn’t a $20,000 investment. It was a cheap fuel economy beater for the work commute. I noticed my tires wearing funny and took it for an alignment. The tech comes out 10 minutes later and said someone welded something in place and an alignment is impossible.

....long story short, you don’t know what someone did to that truck to bring it back.

Have you considered the Nissan Frontier Pro 4X? It's a solid, proven truck and a really great value. I know it's not a Tacoma, but it really is a quality truck that has serious off road capabilities.

 

What does your insurance company think about insuring a truck with a "salvaged" title?

I just suggest he consider it. It really is a good truck.

 

Could you go check it out in person? if you are seriously considering it go inspect it yourself, and also you might be able to negotiate the price a bit, perhaps you could get it for 18k or less. If you find something you don't like then exaggerate it to bring the price down even more...
