...just never know with those salvage titles. Couple grand, not the end of the world. $20K? No fucking way.

Being 5 hours away I personally would not consider the vehicle.
That said, at a minimum a condition of purchase should be that you are able to
    - take it on a long test drive
    - take it to an independent mechanic that knows Tacoma's and have them check the vehicle over. Yes, that cost you some money.
    - Based on the mechanics inspection negotiate the price down. For me it is too high even for a Tacoma. The killer is the salvage title.
    - Check with your DMV that licensing a salvaged titled vehicle will not be a problem.

I raised two daughters, now in there 40's I used to tell them "when in doubt-don't" " don't do anything you wouldn't be proud to tell your mom" Let common sense prevail.

    Mrtacoman88 is right.

Personally I wouldn’t buy it. If you check it out and repairs were done at a reputable shop then make him a lowball offer. You can still walk away.

Again, it's a loser unless perhaps you are going to use this thing for a work truck and beat the shit out of it and leave it for dead down the road.
I've been through this before. Don't let your emotions get the best of you here. Many folks have weighed in with their thoughts. Run.

Do you mind if I ask how old you are?
