Getting there, goddamn I hate sheet metal work!! Stepped down to .030 wire and it's working better for welding the toyota aluminum foil thickness sheet metal. I have no idea what I'm going to do about the far left side of the wheel well. 20200204_130424.jpg 20200204_130601.jpg

Yea it sucks. A series of preventable errors when I did the SAS lead to this, the big one being I accidentally located the axle center line where the factory IFS axle center line was, oops. Other one was I tubbed for 14.5" wide wheels with some crazy backspaceing, now that those are gone I get to re do it. Somehow the drivers side is ok, which is odd. I'm pretty much limited to 37s now, which is fine with me honestly.

When you get time could I get you to take a pic of the inside driver's side. Curious of how the tubbing messes with the clutch pedal.

My drivers side is a mess, I just smashed it with a sledge hammer like I was driving a golf ball a ton of times. I'll get a pic for you though, it messes with the clutch a bit if I'm wearing boots. If I went any deeper I would mod the pedal a bit.

Here ya go. Tried to get one of the clutch depressed for you. You can see the paint where my foot hits the floor when I shift. Thanks on the truck, been 15yrs in the making. Crawl box is hands down the best mod, I like it better than the solid axle for sure.

I never had an issue with any clutch pedal interference after tubbing. But then again I’m only size 10 boots. Meh.

IMO the only thing it affects is the amount of space you have to rest your foot on the highway.

Frigging finally done with the welding!! Just need to seam seal this and trim some sheet metal inside the wheel well so my pax doesn't fillet their leg. Only had one fire behind the dash, snow does a great job at putting fires out.

Going wheeling in a month to the day. Will be the first trip out with the new beadlocks and tires, cant wait to see how they work. Got the parts flowing in, new idler pully, I'm on number 5 of those seizing up, a new adjusting bolt for that pully as that snapped off, and a spare knuckle incase i shear the steering arm studs off I'll be able to swap knuckles and get home. Stay tuned for some hardcore expo style interior navigation equipment support mods this week.:D

No down to Alabama just over the TN border to a park down there. Super excited, supposed to be pretty challenging and I've never been there. Will also meet some people who I met online back when I got into toyotas in 05 but never met in person.

Since everyone loves checklists and I need to prep to leave on a trip in 21 days, time to list what I need to do to get the truck ready to drive 11hrs one way to wheel:
    • Finish painting wheel well
    • Test heat to make sure my interior welding fire didnt melt hoses to the heater core
    • Install power converter thing so I can actually charge my cell phone and use GPS like a modern person, #nomoremapquestforgeoff
    • Reassemble interior
    • Install idler pully and new belt I had to cut off when the old pully seized up
    • Annual oil change is due
    • Bolt check evreything
    • Reinstall my tool box
    • Realize I forgot something important 8hrs into my 11hr drive to the park
    • Fight someone in the costco parking lot for a case of water for the trip #pandemic #whythefuckwouldthecitywaterstopflowing #dumbsubrbanites
Need to get as much done tomorrow as I can as it's going to be nice out and my wife just got over the flu and it will be my turn here shortly.

    Trucks back together.

75% confident the tubing was successfull. Sketch as hell hi hlift flex test, I'm a certified safety professional so dont try this at home!!
    20200305_151232.jpg
Looks like the tire clears the fire wall but may be into the body mount, only way to know is to wheel this thing.
    20200305_151042.jpg
Heres what I did find, the drag link is into the frame pretty good when flexed that way. I knew it was rubbing but didnt know the extent. I could probibly fix this by moving the air bump to outside the frame rail and building a new pad for it.
    20200305_151051.jpg
Building a low rider is overrated a PITA.
installed this power inverter thing to fast charge my cell phone, I can use my GPS now and dont have to print off directions anymore!! (I seriously had to do this)
    20200305_141945.jpg

I did see the rear frame is getting pretty rusty and crunchy back where I patched it. I may be doing some major backhalf work to this thing soon. That all depends on the funding situation though.

Idler pully swapped, all I have to do is bolt check the beadlocks, hubs, grease everything and change the oil but I'll do that before I leave.

This is the part number for the tensioner adjuster bolt for the idler pulley, it took me for fucking EVER to find this!! Looked at Multiple different sites, the fsm didnt have it, eventually found it on some foreign site that had exploded illustrated parts catalogues for all the sub systems. Would have been a good site to save, but my dumbass didnt. This was $.79 from toyota parts deal. I have no idea if it fits on the alternator or the powersteering pump. I may snag another and try the ps pump as that snapped off as well.
