I've been tuned for 2.5 years and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again. It was by far the best money i spent on my truck.

Not saying ovtune or matt is bad, just never on time, and lots of by the end of the week or month release date statements. DFCO was under development in the OP way back when (over 2 years ago), and was removed shortly after. Just to see he is working on it is promising to say the least. But, based on the votes in the stickied thread, it's not a game changer for manual transmission.

To me DFCO is the biggest annoyance for this engine along with atkinson cycle. If I would have bought the tune 2 years ago I wouldn't be a happy customer. So I wait patiently sale after sale, statement after statement, just waiting for him to deliver. People say it's worth it, but I see current customers waiting for 2.0 full release like its going to be wayyyyy better, to me that shows his current tunes are still lacking something.

Again all this is just my opinion, and mean no offense to matt or ovtune itself.

Single torque patch map is awesome. Much smoother and consistent then 1.05 FOB 93 and 3rd and 4th gear feel a lot torquier, I'm driving a gear higher around town. The surge at 3500 rpm is still there, but now it keeps pulling instead of falling off and then picking back up around 4500 rpm. I haven't noticed rev match improving that much, the pedal still feels disconnected when you blip the throttle down shifting though it does seem to rev a bit more quickly now. Did not notice any mpg improvement over my 48 miles commute home tonight. Overall this is a pretty noticeable upgrade over 1.05 imo and will stay on the truck until 2.0 comes out.

Hi Matt and guys on the forum,

I flashed the new tune last night on my 04b13 2016 4x4 manual and found that the truck drove a bit smoother than 2.0beta on my short drive (5 miles) this morning. I noticed that the Rev Hang issue for me seemed to have improved as the RPM's dropped faster after disengaging the clutch than with previous tunes (1.05 and 2.0beta). My shift from 2nd to 4th was smooth and the truck didn't bog-down or buck. The truck didn't feel as peppy as it did with 2.0beta, but since the tune is essentially Stock with some extras, I'm eager to experience what the total package of 2.0 will be in the near future.

That's a valid opinion. Disassembly is very hard, and DFCO was taken off back when I had no means of being able to find it. That's changed. Still, we don't always get stuff done when we want to. I'm 1 person, and things outside of work can adversely affect my schedule.

1.05 is still a great tune. 2.0 just has a ton of stuff that we have developed. Everything we developed that's going into 2.0 did not exist, in any form, code or tables, in the stock ECU. So it's not that 1.05 isn't a good tune, it's that 2.0 has custom code to do additional things that are otherwise impossible.

    yes sending.

FYI the files are 100% stock except torque patch. So the ACIS surge at 3600 rpm, and all other stock BS still exists.

Considering how screwed up the stock tune was, I can completely understand the time that has taken. I was testy back in the early days of this thread, but I listened and learned.

There's just no way I'd go back to the Stock even for shits and grins.

DFCO (Deceleration Fuel Cut Off) is the process of turning off the fuel injectors when the throttle is closed. It saves fuel and gives you extra engine breaking. The problem is that as you are decelerating and the RPMs fall there's a point where the injectors need to come back on. When the do it feels like you are accelerating suddenly. When in actuality you just lost some engine breaking. The factory calibration enables the injectors at a higher than ideal RPM. The yet to be released tune will have this lowered. Still gonna feel like a surge when DFCO turns off but hopefully by then you've clutched in.

Let's just say that where it is in 2nd and up, this is a complete non-issue. If OVT can get it to the same spot in 1st. Oh man!

I get annoyed with the stock DFCO in 2nd gear when it kicks back in and makes it very not smooth while cruising around slowly in the neighborhood or traffic, etc. No matter how smooth your foot is on the throttle it's not as smooth as you want.

That is a thing of the past with the test tune that I have. Plus, this new one map test tune take out all the guessing that I used to do about how the throttle was going to respond.

    2.0 is gonna be goood!

    Canada Eh!
I have no issues with DFCO in 2nd and up, even crawling around a parking lot at engine idle speed. I think you're possible confusing DFCO with other throttle/tuning quirks.

Welp, shifting is back to constantly feeling “cold” and crunchy. Carvana has offered me 28k for the truck. seriously considering it.

Possibly, but I can tell you it feels alot like the fuel coming back on artificially without me touching the throttle and always at the same rpm (see DFCO).

Just the 1-2 shift or all of them. 1-2 was never good for me. The ADM helped a bit, but it's still crunchy.

    @Tacoma816

4,000 miles on the truck now and Redline MT-90. My 1-2 has improved. That very first "cold shift" isn't ever smooth. How bad, well it all depends.

If it's been sitting all night and its below freezing (and I dont let the truck idle to warm up) that "cold shift" 1-2 is clunky/crunchy feeling. Still not nearly as bad as when new.

Same scenario except I let the truck idle for 10 mins and then take off it's notchy, but much better.

If the truck sits all day at work and the afternoon temp is let's say 50F, that very first 1-2 shift is slightly notchy. Not bad, but not smooth.

Once the trans is warmed up it's smooth.
