Now that I've been playing with it, it's not at the beginning. Seems to go back fine, but feels like it's hesitating when it hits that pin thing on the return.

 

If you're talking about the little round thing that looks like it's beveled front and back (relative to the pistol) that is the disconnect. It's (simplified explination) to keep the gun from firing out of battery (keep the round from going off unless it's properly seated in the chamber).

There is a slight resistance when the slide passes that point, I'd say it's normal. It would kind of feel like it slows the slide down and then the slide would feel like it speeds back up, when you pass it (if you are slow racking and feeling the slide motion)
