Myself, I'm indifferent about going to the darkside. If I had a GW or BMW GT and went long distance, it might consider it given the advantages. I certainly would not hit the twisties with it though.

For now, I'm happy with good m/c tires and enjoy the curves and am also more than happy to haul instead of ride for the slab stuff these days.

A couple weeks ago someone on the forum said they disconnected one side while off-roading, because he was able to do that on his 1st gen, and it ended up tearing his cv boot apart on his 3rd gen.

Something like those will not work for the 3rd Gen as the SB ends are right above the CV and cannot be rotated up safely enough.

This is about the only solid design that I have seen for us:

I removed mine, there isn't significant roll on the interstate and local driving but get on a curvy highway or a fast on-ramp and your butthole might pucker a bit.

Running up Highway 24 in CO or sections of 50 there are fast sweeping curves. I didnt realize how mcuh the truck rolled until I couldnt keep up with the people I was following. They could run the slalom significantly faster because my truck is sloshing back and forth. I even had people following me comment how much the truck rolled.

We took the Durango to Silverton drive last summer. What a beautiful drive.

I installed both front and rear Hellwig anti sway bars and what a difference! It corners very flat now, its not a Porsche but significantly improved the onroad handling.

Here’s a photo of the rear sway bar

    And on of the front:

If anyone is running with a lot of weight, it really helps.

Agreed! Or, towing. That is pretty much the main reason that I have mine in the crawlspace.

Does anyone know for a fact if the Sportsway bar is stiffer-heavier than the OffRoad? I think I read somewhere they are different. If so, it might be a worthwhile compromise to install an OR on a Sport.

Yes, the OR has a thinner diameter sway bar than the rest. The Sport, SR, SR5, Limited and Pro all have the same size sway bar, and its 2mm thicker than the OR.

I think it is only the Sport and Pro that share this 30mm bar. The rest get the 28mm.

Factoring in the 700lb springs and stiff valving of the shocks is what makes the Sport what it is.

I believe the ORs have 650lb springs. Not sure about the rest.

Like I have said, the Sport with the SBD feels the same as a stock OR, so for me, I would have no interest in an OR SB. Of course, others might want to try it.

There is nothing wrong with that, since it suits you.

On car forums, folks do all kinds of crazy mods and there is never a comment beyond saying something like 'that's gonna make your car pretty neutral' or 'speed bumps are gonna be a beyotch.' Like I posted a while ago, this whole SWB gets blown out of proportion when folks are adding heavy racks, toppers, RTTs, highlifts, cases, and jerry cans above their roofs. Chunks of 80/20 alone are surprisingly heavy.

The sway won't clear the coilover, and that's the real issue. My links work, but aren't perfect by any means. I'm working towards releasing a sway bar disconnect this summer, and that should work much better than the sliding disco. It'll take a little more work to disconnect, but the results will be worth the extra effort.
