They need to just do nothing, they caused this bubble, let it fix itself. Of course they wont do nothing because they need to justify their existence.

    Damn
I'm not trying to get politics involved at all and I even voted for Trump in 2016, but I'll say that Trump gets what he wants and I think he wants the Fed to cut rates and I can see them doing that twice this year. I don't think they should, they need to stay out of it- I agree with you. But I have a feeling they're going to get pressured to cut the rates

The wise ones are sitting on hordes of cash or equivalents and will make a killing in this next economic downturn

The way I see it this could be the start of a real recession. I think it was long overdue. Right now all this is just a paper crash. 401k's lost some value, people took some losses in their portfolios, but everyone still has a job. Unless people start getting laid off and losing their job we are okay. If people are losing their jobs and consumer spending comes to a halt this can get really bad

I don’t think you can have the second largest economy in the world come to a complete standstill and not have global repercussions

I don't think a lot of people understand that economic down turns are how wealth is built. The person sitting on cash has a lot of options to buy stocks and hard assets at a better floor. We should be celebrating this market meltdown. I realize that's not a popular opinion to have.

I still think the realistic Dow floor is 18-20k, but that's just me thinking in the shower. 1st qtr earnings season should be interesting.

The paper losses will still have a negative result. This is where you see some people even should the market recover, slam pockets books shut and circle their wagons. The feedback loop are already been set. This isn't going away in a few weeks.

Everyone would love to save, buy at the bottom, and become rich. Of course they would. Who has succeeded at that? Probably very few.

That won't happen. This is short term hysteria. Starbucks reopened most of their stores in China. The hysteria in China only lasted what.. a month? Now things are starting to blow over. Everyone's realizing that it's not any more lethal than the flu. There are still questions, yes, but it's not the plague. Once people realizing that there's nothing to stop the spread, but it's not causing everyone to die, the hysteria here will subside. That might be a week from now. But it will pass. Just depends on if the markets overshoot out of pure capitulation.

I don’t think this thing is just gonna pick right back up where it left off unless this virus disappears fast. Most of the worlds economies were already on the brink of recession and this sealed the deal

The crazy part is people wont take into account that the market skyrocketed on very little actual fundamentals. Realistically this thing could tank for a decent amount before we hit probibly the "true" value of the market. They will see tanking and shut the pocket books and not take into account that it skyrocketed not based on fundamentals.

Starbucks may have opened, but are they hitting typical customer counts?

Starbucks is not the broader economy in China

I'm sure people have many questions.. maybe the company will answer them. My guess is if they have good news, they won't hesitate to share it.

We haven’t yet experienced the peak effects of the supply chain disruptions from China. When that surfaces in a couple months, at the same time the US and Europe is dealing with a [possible] pandemic, things will get interesting to say the least. 23k is where I see the market leveling off. (If virus gets bad)

Historically, we see a market rise in the short term following major epidemics and pandemics. I hope we’re sitting around 25-26k by the end of the year.

That would be a “satisfactory” recovery imo and would be representative of where I think we realistically should have been now (without the “virus”), as opposed to nearly 30k.

“Remembering 30k” psychologically could inspire some confidence later in the year for many; after the virus scare is gone (we hope).
