So I just left the house but I'd say its about 4 1/2" from one end to the other?

The mature male they had was huge...like 7-8" but I wanted one to see it grow.

The girl helping me was really knowledgeable as she has a lot of OW yet she said she dislikes the L. Parahybana most due to the hairs.

Would be awesome if this T turns out to be a female.

Yeah the urticating hairs affect everyone differently. So far the only tarantula's hairs that I've really noticed my body reacting to exposure from are those of my theraphosa blondi ... but that species is supposed to have the nastiest hairs out of all tarantulas.

Brachypelma vagans. Loved that spider as she was super chill, great eater, and HUGE.

Decided to rehouse my Aphonopelma hentzi into a deeper enclosure to allow her to dig more since that's her favorite activity. :D Some tarantulas are hard to rehouse but for this one all I have to do is open the lid and she immediately starts walking outside.

... and a cool closeup shot of her foot.

    Badass

So let me ask; I take it my T is doing well and has taken to its new home?

I'm sure the 2 1/2hr drive home while being in a tiny little tub drove it crazy. Not to mention getting put into a new enclosure kept the stress levels up.

It had been on the walls of the enclosure non stop yesterday but I just let it be.

Moisture is on point as there's humidity and I have about 6" of substrate so plenty of space to burrow and plenty to warm up without letting the tank get too warm.

I threw a cricket in this morning only to come home from work with the cricket gone, and my T chillin at the entrance

Yeah the spider is probably doing fine now. Very common for them to either hangout in one place without moving, or walk all over the place to explore when moved to a new enclosure. Does your enclosure have cross-ventilation (air holes on opposing sides)? That's the best way to prevent mold buildup which is a pain to deal with. Another tip to help avoid mold is to soak down the substrate in 1 corner of the enclosure every week, and then pick a different corner the following week. Funny how yours is actually using the hide you provided. My L. parahybana seems to enjoy just hanging out in the open all the time. :D

They are foot pads that have tens of thousands of fine hairs on them which create a huge surface area for contact ... so yeah, pretty much suction cups. :D
