2019 Tailgate Lock - PN: PK3B6-35JS0

Got mine installed along with a backflip MX4. Holy crap those metal ties by the exhaust were infuriating as a guy with meat paws and big arms. The kit is really nice and very plug and play. Can confirm it works on a 2018 DCSB MT6 TRD Sport.

 

So true!! Besides the pass through grommet in the cab and practically having to remove the seat to have reasonable access!

 

What is everyone doing instead of the 3m seam sealant that’s applied to the wire harness clip? That 5oz is 26$

 

Can any one confirm if this kit is quieter than the KTJO 4x4 kit?

There's a video there that gives you an idea of how loud it is. The OEM version sounds about the same as the front/rear door locks. It comes with the special grommets for the tailgate, and under cab and enough zip-ties to do 2 cars. The OEM kit also has pretty high quality heat shielding on the under cab wire exactly in the right section to protect it from the exhaust and includes the metal wire ties that wont melt. IMHO the OEM kit is the best, the fit is perfect and the extra bits like the grommets and heat shielding really make it worth the extra cash.

 

Is it even necessary?

 

I used JB Weld RTV since it was what I had.

 

If you dont wa t it to rust.

What I did is put three strips of electrical tape on the metal part of the tailgate before I put on that clip. I hope the clips teeth didn’t went thru it...

 

I do have some of this in the cabinet.

Probably not considering it will be a small scratch in the metal. Can it rust, sure but will it rust out or do any harm flopping around, probably not.

it’s more for me to appease ocd. It’s written for a reason/precaution so I’ve already seent it but I also torque my lugs, oil & filter plugs or anything that has a specified spec truth is it probably won’t get any better being that this is my 1st new vehicle (at 35). And unlike my younger self I have learned things last longer if you take care of them so this truck gets the white gloves

Got mine install yesterday, in total it took me about 8 hours due to age, thinking/wondering and wanting to do it right. The instructions with pictures made the install that much easier. Nice kit

To clear up my confusion. I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB. Are you saying that if I install the Bed led light and there will be conflict with tailgate lock?

 

hmmm, I'm not a pro, I have a 2020 dcsb TRD Sport that came equipped with cargo light rocker switch.
I installed the oem tailgate lock which took up one cab hole under the front passenger seat. And I got the oem cargo lights which interconnects with the existing tail lights wiring, there is no wiring going to the front cab. I haven't installed the bedlight kit as of yet.

 

I have a 2020 sport. I 'added' the tailgate Lock to the existing grommet under the passenger seat. I am installing the bed lights this W/E. I don't expect any issues.
