Woodson was a CB. Howard was the last WR, though.

I think with our defense which should be just as good if not better than last year Kirby wants a veteran that won’t make mistakes to lose the game. People are hyping up Newman. I have to admit I scarfed at it when I first heard of him and coming from Wake Forrest but the more I’ve heard the more intrigued I am. It’s hard to say how he will do, nobody will know until the time comes. I mean yeah didn’t have great numbers at Wake, but at the same time he didn’t have the talent around him that he’ll have here either. I am a little excited to have a mobile guy in the mix with our running game.

Carson Beck is supposed to have the arm of Mathew Stanford and the mind of Jake Fromm.

Not sure which is the better choice but I trust the staff will make the right call.

George Pickens, provided we have a qb that can get it to him.

He needs to worry about getting out of all his feelings and staying on the field before he starts worrying about winning any hardware. Kid has all the talent in the world and lets his emotions get the better of him and gets tossed from games. Maybe Cochran can help calm his ass down

Just took a look at the combine results from yesterday, Ruggs had a hell of a showing.

Yeah, before the Zach Evans fiasco, I remember thinking that the Pickens and Evans would be suspended at least twice each. Somewhat glad Evans didn't work out, we have enough off field issues and need somebody to reign Pickens in.

The fight after the TD at GT last year was entertaining though, we were sitting over in that corner.

Dang I didn’t realize he had not run when I posted yesterday. A 4.27 is smoking!

Thats the specific one I was referring to. The problem I had with it (and would still have the same problem if it was Bama) was he was already suspended the first half of that game for similar reasons, then really the first possession you get in you do great and score a TD then get kicked right back out of the game. You HAVE TO be smarter than that and there has to be reprocussion for those actions. I know Cochran will be more involved with the players than just being ST coach so maybe his relationship skills with the players will rub off on Pickens and allow him to be the stud he really can be.

Funny thing is he was pissed about it. His first run they called a false start which they came back and said was clean. He said he worried too much about false starting again to have better runs. I know it sounds like excuses but one can't help to think what a "worry free" 40 could have been. I will be anxious to see what he runs at Bama's pro day. Take the stress of the NFL combine away from it and I think he has a real shot and beating the 4.22 record. If he does I know it will be "tainted" since he ran it at his college pro day but it will still be an eye catcher for scouts. As I was watching it the announcer said what everyone was thinking though...."How fast do you have to be to be upset about running a 4.27 and a 4.30 40 time at the NFL combine? HAHA!

Turned out to not matter, but also got him suspended for the first half of the SEC championship, when Cager was already out so he was our main WR threat. That was what had me very mad at the time, but in the moment still entertaining.

Yeah he’s impressively fast. Not insulting at all but I’m really curious to see how this recent bama receiving corps turns out to be in the nfl. Obviously it depends on qb but watching them in college they just always seemed wide open or their best play was a deep route they just ran as fast as possible on. I think most will have success, but I’m interested to see.

Same here. Luckily the 2 that are in this draft have 2 things specifically going for them that are tough to guard. Juedy has great route running and he can stop on a dime to cut. And Ruggs has ridiculous speed. They compared Juedy to a combination of Julio and Stephon Diggs, and Ruggs to Tyreke Hill. I will absolutely take those comparisons. I just hope their traits translate smoothly to the NFL. Along with them being from my team, they have stayed out of trouble, done what has been asked of them, and seem to be good kids so I always gotta pull for players like that. I don't know about the other LSU guys but the Jefferson kid seems to be in the same category as Ruggs and Juedy with the latter details. Comes from a good family, been a good kid his whole career and even publicly apoligized and admitted it was stupid to accept the cash from OBJ after the natty. That just shows he has a good character about him so wishing him success as well.

I agree to all of that. I always thought Ruggs was the unsung best receiver at Alabama like Jefferson was at LSU with these latest groups. Jeudy always seemed to get the bomb passes and get major credit for those, but I just never saw him catch a contested pass that was like woah. Ruggs had that and so did Jefferson in my opinion.

    Head unit. That's it.

    He is lightning fast.

Some of the issue with Ruggs is route tree depth. He is so fast, but his route tree is limited.

In watching both Ruggs and Jeudy, you can see they have insane top speed and acceleration, as many of their touchdowns came from plays over the middle of the fields where they simply accelerated past any defenders.

I'm a tad disappointed Ruggs didnt beat the record. I was pulling for him!
