Yeah the frontier my dad got has frame jitters going over speed bumps and rail road tracks... really kills the driving experience

The 4runner's one piece body offers more chassis stiffening than a Tacoma's separate cab and bed.

Are you saying that adding the beefed up shackles and shackle hangers didn't make a difference for you? I think you're the first person that has ever come out and said you didn't notice a huge difference. I've convinced myself that it's improved the ride, but maybe that's because the install was a huge PITA. I don't think any other project has been as nightmare-ish as that one was.

the difference is unmistakingly fucking huge... on my truck. i have modded mine to feel everything, every little thing on the road, tons of feedback, not for everyone. if his truck is loaded up with armor, has bigass tires, etc, i wouldn't be totally surprised. but the difference on mine is just plain night & day.

Yes. I boxed in the rear section of a gen1 Tacoma. Obviously you can apply primer and paint to the outside surface of the frame rails but the hollow cavity inside the boxed frame will not see that same coating. This also applies to welding to the frame rails (sliders , roll cage) where your hot weld will burn off any coating on the back side of the frame. If you can’t access the back side (like in fully boxed frame) you can’t apply paint to it so it will be raw steel. Ironically a C frame doesn’t have this issue because you can always access the “backside” with your spray paint can.

I guess this might be an issue for people living in states with “weather”.

I was gonna guess that but didn’t want to assume. Both products were out for about a year before I chose one, and I followed each thread during that time. I consistently saw in the AG thread that ride quality improved but didn’t see it in the bamf one at all. So I’d guess there’s more to the improvement than just replacing the hanger.

I chose BAMF shackle hangers, because I already had the HD shackles and I heard of some issues with some earlier gen AG hangers (shackle getting stuck at full droop). Although, I believe AG got those issues sorted out and provided a fix to existing customers. I don't see how you'd get different results, as both of the hangers are relatively similar form factor, but maybe there's something to it.

I have't seen anyone complain about the BAMF hangers. @JoeCOVA is the first person that I've seen, who hasn't raved about the change in driving characteristics.

I'm pretty sure that I noticed a change, but keep in mind, I went from stock > to shackles only > to shackles and hangers. So my change was probably a bit more gradual than others.

I’m probably the least sensitive to handling changes on my truck but I definitely didn’t notice anything in particular. That said, my truck is in a constant state of change so there may have been a difference but was offset by other mods that I made.

I have no doubt that the rear is significantly stronger and we will see how the 12” rear shocks handle in Moab in a month or so.

Theres no frame flex on my 3rd gen 4 runner because the crack on my windshield hasnt run after all the dumb shit ive done

meaning the body isnt being asked to support the frame

Definitely noticed a difference on mine, although I made several mods all at once: AG hangers/shackles with new Deaver leafs, AG shock relocation kit with 14" Fox smoothies & hydraulic bump stops; so it was hard not to notice a difference. I would say that the biggest perceived difference is when driving fast over railroad tracks or washboard dirt roads. The ass end doesn't rattle or wiggle as harsh and the truck feels more unified. Feels more like a SUV instead of pickup. I too have the AG cross bar sitting in the garage waiting for a warm spring day to install so interested to see if there's any additional benefit.

Would recommend the upgraded hangers/shackles, especially since its not an expensive nor difficult mod

I really like how my Frontier handles rough roads. You feel the suspension doing the work and no weird shudder and reverberation.

rigid frame equals no force on body hence why i can do 50 on a washed out dirt trail and 3 wheel on fj springs and original shocks without running the cracks in my windshield

If the frame were spaghetti it would flex like my moms 100 that runs cracks in its windshield

That's an assumption you make with no substantiation.
The body acts as a stressed member of the frame, together they are stronger than either alone. The crack in your windshield is not an absolute metric. If the body/frame together are stronger as a unit (they are) that could be why the crack hasn't grown, they are strong enough to prevent window cracking stress. OR if the crack does not currently reach the edge of the glass it may be isolated enough that minor flexing has no effect OR it could be that even if the body flexes the rubber gasket takes up the motion.

If the body were under stress the crack would run like they do on my moms truck

    And my dads frontier

I understand that the body could support the frame but if the cracks dont run theres no torsional stress on it... which would make them run like a mofo

Like my dads frontier that things fame is jello... ive followed it as it crosses railroad tracks and the bed is all over the place

surprise surprise the first chip it got ran across the windshield before i could get home to fill it
