A while back, before I did mine, last year there was a TSB for something related to the sensor and some guys were saying that if they had the pro grill and/or a lift they would not do the work. Something to that effect but I am not 100% sure. I have the dealer do the TSB and then did my front struts and grill no issues even after that for each subsequent service.

Well I guess he is a noob to installing a grill though. You are correct, there are a lot of the times I don't respond because I don't have the time. I would rather do that than just say go search youtube. Anyway, free country so do what you do. I have been in his shoes before and have greatly appreciated when someone has walked me through things on this and many other forums.

That's good to know. Future grille swappers w/ radars will appreciate this.

OP, pm me and I will gladly send you my number and talk you through or answer any questions or give pics.

Like I said dude, if I have time I always help. I have had people on other forums walk me through things that may have been considered simple to others and it meant a hell of a lot more than why didn't you search youtube or the forum before asking.

As someone else said, there are plenty of youtube videos out there that show how to remove the OEM chicken wire grill. Watch a couple of those, and believe me, you can finish the whole swap, even with taking your time while doing it, in about 20 minutes. And by the way, I did not break ANYthing off of the old grill when I took it apart. Just go about it slowly and you will get it out in only a few minutes without breaking any of the tabs. I didn't want to break any, because I always keep everything in case it is needed later on. Regarding the TSS Sensor, it does NOT need to be recalibrated at all. I did find that the whole TSS system is a learning system, which is what the dealer also told me, and with time and mileage, and PCS OFF light coming on will not happen anymore once the system learns your habits and the road. Example, during the first months after I installed the TRD Grill, every once in a while, the PCS OFF light would come on for no apparent reason. After a while though, it quit coming on and I figured it had "learned" as I was told it was supposed to do. Then, last october, when I left CA for a cross country drive to the coast of NC and back, about an hour from my house, the PCS OFF light came on and pretty much came on after every stop for gas, etc, after I had returned to the road and about 15minutes or so of driving. Very annoying! Finally, after I got to the coast of NC, without any rhyme or reason, the PCS OFF light quit coming and and the TSS system performed flawlessly and has been, ever since without the PCS OFF light coming on. I let the deal have an earful when I got back from my trip, so he could in turn, tell Toyota yet another story of how customers hate the TSS system sensitivity. But he reiterated the fact of it being a learning system, but I told him that ok, it is working now, but that the fact that it took me a whole cross country drive to make it work properly, does not make sense at all! But at least it is working fine and has been now, for the past 5 months.

I don't think it was dikish, like at all. And more often we tell people to search, the less clutter we have and more we can sort out the outliers and the real, more difficult problems. If we "enable" him this time, next time he has another mundane question, it'll clutter the threads up even more. I come from a nip it in the bud mentality, not because I don't wanna help, but because I believe it does more good than just answering the question initially, the first time.

It is all good I know what you mean, I was probably just being a little defensive because of some of my experiences. In the end whatever works for the guy is all that matters.

Had we kept this thread to answering the question instead of littering it with useless bs about the best way to give advice, it could have been a small simple thread with the answer needed for this member and perhaps the next.

I totally agree. I am new to forums, but it comes across as real dickish to reflexively respond with the old "do a search" reply. Most of us that genuinely don't know something have already searched and may have found a lot of good info but didn't find an answer to a specific question. And sorry, I'm not willing to wade through 3000 posts on a single thread in the hopes of maybe finding the needle in the haystack. I thought the point of these forums was to have dialog anyway, otherwise we could just shut it down and say "do a search, it's already been discussed."

I just did a search in TW for "Pro Auto Grill" and didn't come up with anything useful that would have answered the OP's question. Yes, there is an installation video that pops up if you Google it, but I still don't think it's lazy to ask forum members that have installed the same grille for any tips that may not have been covered in the video. I would call it due diligence.

Exactly my point, whether people want to admit it or not we have all been there and either not wanted to do the search or exhausted a search or just didn't get what we needed. I can see what our opponents are saying but in the end a forum is a place to ask questions, even if it is how do I use a screwdriver. We are all supposed to be here to help each other.

If you think so. I believe I had the first response and it was perfectly helpful.
