More so the functionality for me. I'm on gravel roads weekly, so they're needed.

I don't believe they really add much in regard to good looks of the Tacoma, however great for protecting your rocker panels, so I'm a fan. I prefer look/protection of the OEM flaps.

My truck does not have them...I do like the look, they probably would not help me that much...I may get a set.

I'm not too concerned with how flaps look, but I do like their functionality.

I hate the way they look, so I run without. But, if you like the look of no mudflaps, you kinda have to be OK with the look of mud splatters.

I like the look better without them but I have them for protection from the daily commute on gravel roads

If you live the rust belt, it is $40 now for mudflaps or complete rocker and cab corner replacement in years to come.

I put them on to protect the paint from rock chips. The paint is quite thin, and even small impacts will cause chips down to metal. Chips to the rockers and doors has been pretty much eliminated after installing the flaps.

I ordered my 2020 without them, practical as they are, because they look frumpy, to me. Truck was delivered with them (along with chrome exhaust tip and all-weather floor mats) so I had them deducted from the price. They did not remove them from the truck, in the end, and I put them on my wife's 2019.

Reduces mud/dirt on side of truck. That's why I have them.

If you put on rock sliders with fill plates (see link below for an example of Mobtown's sliders), seems you wouldn't need the mudflaps to prevent rocks from hitting the rocker panels since the fill plates will perform the same function. The 20 I just picked up has mud flaps but I'm getting the Mobtown sliders with fill plates and will take off the mud flaps off once the sliders get installed.

I don't need my rockers peppered with rock chips. I only go to the mall so no need to think i'm super bad ass running no flaps like some overlander that's never left his own zip code called his driveway for those sick gram pics of some tent that he can't get his girlfriend Felicia to sleep in like a barbarian for the weekend out by the salton sea

I planned to get them solely as a courtesy to the driver behind me, but when I saw them in person I realized that the look was not to my taste. I passed. I may look at something more aggressive aftermarket option down the road.

So I am upgrading my tire size to 285/70/17..I was told I would have to remove my mudflaps to prevent rubbing. What are my options then to protect my paint from mud and rock chips?

Keep the flaps and get smaller tires.... Or lift?
