Icon 2.5 rebuild

Well, diving in the deep end. I'm going to attempt to rebuild my icon 2.5" remote reservoirs. I will try to keep up on this post as I go through them. Some times I get focused on the task at hand and for get. Lol!!
I got the coilovers out and took the spring

The spring compressor I used. From Amazon, of course.


Next I will the cap off and drain the oil. If there is any left.
Back in a few.

I found that the set screw in the cap was seized. *****! Ok, so there is oil in the one that was leaking. And it does not look very dirty or nasty. Took a little Scott Brite to the shaft to clean it up. Next I will take apart the shaft. Got to work the head right and keep it in the orientation. all puns intended.

Got the shim stack off and the resi end plug and piston out. Time to replace the seals.




Man, to pull out the seal and dust wiper was a pain in the a$$ putting them in was just as hard if not harder.



Time to put everything back together.


Got it back together and now replacing the uniballs on each end.


Finished! I just got back from the shop to have it charged with Nitrogen.



After getting the truck back together it out some stop tech rotors and pads on it, only to find out I have a stuck piston on the right caliper. I could not get the piston free. So time to order a caliper. I also noticed the uniballs on the ucas are worn out like like throwing a hotdog down the hallway.i guess I know what I'm doing in the weekend to come.

 

I'm interested in the spring compressor...looked like it worked out well for you, not sketchy one bit? Figured this is handy to have.

 

worked good with the 700lbs springs. i had to trim the inside of the spring cup on the top side to make clearance for the treads. make sure you grease the treads and the shaft.

 

Sweet. I'll be using it just to compress the springs slightly to fine tune the ride height. Good luck with the rebuild.
