Mine has an indicator in the dash and another by the shifter. Tends not to move on its own- requires user intervention.
Plus you can tell what gear you are in by the RPM’s (tach thingie in the dash) as well as by the sound and feel of the truck.
Haven’t tried this by taste yet.

Have you ever driven an auto before? You slide out of park and it’ll go all the way to drive. Then there’s a lock out to go past it into the other gears.

Im good. I’ll assume his indicator light went out, and he’s joking about not knowing what gear he’s in.

One of my Volvo 240's had no interior or indicator light what so ever with the exception of the gauge light.
And the windows were super dark tint. Was quite an interesting drive at night.

Don’t try driving a motorcycle. The only indicator you get is a light for neutral..if you are lucky

My 85 was very distinct in each of it's 4 gears. If you didn't know what gear you were in, that was your fault

My 18 has a little animation of a fairy on the hud that flies around the screen carrying a card with the gear on it that I'm currently in. Plus i have a glow in the dark shift knob.

There's also an interesting ecu check for autos, if you juuussst click the windshield washer and it only sprays from the left side, you're in an odd numbered gear. And if you juuuuust click your high beam and only one lights up, then you're in an even numbered gear.

You're always in 2nd on Thursdays.

You can pop start in any gear, but if the tailgate is down, don't pop start in reverse.

    Think that covers it

You forgot to tell me how to know if I’m in reverse on a Wednesday after 9, or neutral, ever.
