Speedo accuracy question

My observations on my new to me 09 with the stock tires compared to my GPS shows the following. My speedo is about 2 mph faster than gps but the odo is the same after 32 miles and watching the 10ths of a mile roll over it was even. Any thoughts?

 

Is it 2 miles faster at all speeds? because then your needle is just off. If it get progressively more off the faster you go, than the tire ratio is a little off. Sounds to me like needle adjustment.

 

Mines the same way and there have been threads on this. It seems like just the way the 2nd Gens were built. No idea why...

 

It's normal..... the speedo needle (on the dash) is not calibrated properly to the numbers (per say).

I have a Scangauge which takes the info directly off the ECU and the speed on the Scangauge is accurate to the GPS. However - the dial on the dash shows 2mph fast.

Has to do with something about the computer converting the signal from digital readout (odometer) to analog readout (speedometer) makes it a small percentage off. Seems in this day & age of technology they could make it a more accurate conversion. Someone else said Toyota deliberately does it for safety because so many owners put on larger tires. But the odometer is accurate with the stock size tires, that's all I care about.
