I have scheduled Propane delivery In February and August. Never ran out untill today. My last delivery was February 2019. Now they want $95 to test for leaks because I let the Tank run out of Propane even though THEY missed Augusts delivery.
    SCAM or Simple error ?
3-5 days without propane plus $95 extra charge because I let the tank go empty? I've been getting mailings for deals on additional Propane tanks for emergencies but $999 is asking too much for 20 gal tank. Greedy Blasturds.

Hey, what a great way to get more money out of customers? Skip a delivery then hose them for $95 leak test. Whoever thought that up is getting a good xmas bonus this year.

Seems fishy to me. Personally, I would call them out on it.

What do you wanna bet they inform me of a leak and lock my valve closed untill I sign an open work order allowing unestimateable charges?
    We'll see.

I was told that I use so little per year they cannot see how the tank would go empty unless it leaked out "Somewhere"

Wait, you didn't bother to call them or follow up when they missed the scheduled Aug fillup..?

So I called for Propane fill at 9am this morning. Was informed of $95 additional fee for leak test and 3-5 days lead time. Propane tanker arrives at 10:30 am Driver and tech aboard. They installed a gauge and filled tank as I watched the 5min leak test.
No leaks, (because I was watching)?
How does a 20 gal tank hold 23 gal?
I'm not complaining about using only 20 gal per year for cooking and hot water but my annual bill doubled because August sceduled delivery was missed by supplier. 23 gal @ $3.99 -$91.98 compliance charge $6.75
    Leak check $95 Total $193.73
Glad I was home. Could have been much more expensive:D

I have no idea on the legality, but every propane co I have dealt with has the same policy. They will require entry into your house as well as confirm all pilot lights are lit. They dont want to fill your tank if you have 100s of gallons leaking into your house.

Supplier offered regularly scheduled deliveries to insure I wouldn't run out of propane. Should I have needed to second guess the pro for profit dealer?
    Yes! You're right!
    Evidently.
    I guess? Poo on it.

Im good with Federally mandated safety policies but unscrupulous business practices piss me off.

Fuggit. I have hot water and can cook.
But it costs twice as much this year because regularly scheduled deliveries didn't deliver 6 mo ago. My misteak?

Lol. It should have only held 18 at most. I would seriously just look at managing your own propane. If you cant lift the 20G tank you can use a engine hoist or pulley system to get it into your bed. Lots of us have 100G tanks that we just take the empty one into town for a fill. No drama and a little bit if your time.

Thanks for the advice Feet but Propane fill ups here only fill gas grill tanks, anything over that size must be permanently mounted to an RV or transported by Hazmat DOT approved handlers. My tank is also permanently mounted by SS strapping so there's that also.

You may have 100lb and 100 gal Propane thanks confused. My 100 lb 30 gal tank isn't Transportable for refilling. I would like to see you transport a 400lb 100 gal Propane tank:rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I'm confused.

If you are on a 6 month maintenance schedule, you should not be paying for the leak test. They missed the fall fill up. You don't have to call to remind them. You wanted to be on a schedule to avoid that. I'd be asking for that money back.

I do find it hard to believe that a single company owns all the suppliers.

100 lbs propane tank hold 23.9 gallons. They shorted you.

What was the price per gallon last fall? Winter rates are always much higher. They boned you there, too.

    I'd be beyond pissed.
