I agree with this part. The value will be based on the condition and mileage

You've got the remainder of the factory warranty @ 3/36 from the in-service date. Explain to me how this immediate 12 month warranty is going to benefit you. Other than making your wallet lighter by $900....

I wouldn’t pay the factory price for the cover if it’s not already installed.

It don’t... the only thing I can tell is it adds 2 years or 40000 miles to powertrain.. whatever the Carfax guarantee buyback is??? I have roadside assistance.. I guess it makes the truck more appealing at resale.. I don’t really see the point accept for the added 2 years on the powertrain..

Extended warranties are a high margin money maker that the finance guy wants to scare you into buying.

    It's that simple.

Sometimes stuff breaks, the buyer feels smart and the dealer loses.

But if they didn't make money overall, they wouldn't offer it. Period.

Heard of Warren Buffet? Guess what much of his worth came from? That's right. Insurance businesses.

I wouldn't pay $900 if I was you . You have around 4years left on the factory warranty and will only have maybe 40,000 miles on the truck when the the 5/60 runs out . You will be paying $900 for two years and 16,000 miles of coverage . As far as resale it's not going to make the truck worth a grand more .

^This!!! If the warranties run concurrently this makes no financial sense.

I had to go research this. The bumper to bumper from the certified warranty would be concurrent so no advantage there. But the drivetrain would be extended from 5/60 to 7/100. So is that worth the $900? Maybe.

I paid 1700 bucks for a 4 yr 48000 mile extended warranty on my Honda. The biggest waste of fucking money ever. I didn't get one dime back out. And I thought for sure something would break b/c I bought the car with 77,000 miles on it. Drove it to 277,000 and had no major repairs ever.

I'm not saying you won't, but to me, it seems a waste to warranty a Honda or Toyota b/c of their reliability. Take it for what its worth but consumer advocate Clark Howard says extended warranties are in general a waste of money for many reasons.

Not really. You are the second owner. One owner certified trucks sell best.

Exactly. Extended warranties are nothing more than a gamble. They're betting you won't need it (they win), you're hoping you won't, but if you do (you win, kinda).
