The app also attempted to send me on a 10-mile round trip Edible Arrangements run for less than nine dollars; What sucks about the Edible Arrangements orders is that they have to be refrigerated, and they are generally very unwieldy and top-heavy, which makes them hard to transport in your pickup truck...

Also, as opposed to typical DoorDash orders which are requested directly by the customer, Edible Arrangements orders can be considered “fourth party”; Edible Arrangements isn’t going to pay the Dasher because DoorDash is doing that...

The person who ordered the arrangement is not going to add a tip because they assume their order is being delivered by an Edible Arrangements employee who gets paid an hourly wage. The customer receiving the order isn’t going to add a tip because they likely don’t even realize they’re getting the order!

My theory is that Edible Arrangements is incredibly short on dedicated drivers and signed into some sort of agreement with DoorDash to supply drivers at a very low fixed rate; I made the mistake of accepting an Edible Arrangements order a couple of months ago, vowed never to do so again, and declined the order I got from there yesterday!

The last time I did DoorDash before my nearly month-long January-February hiatus was in the “Bryn Athyn” zone, which encompasses a significant chunk of Bucks County; The only order I got was from a 50s diner-type place in Southampton, and it ended up going more than five miles to an apartment complex with a Philly address!

The distance wasn’t the problem, but rather driving to the outskirts of Philly in rush hour traffic!

I refuse to do DoorDash in Bryn Athyn anymore!

I have never done DoorDash in Philly; I did Uber Eats in the city a few times and refuse to do it anymore...

I could probably make a small fortune if I opted to make deliveries in the city, but it’s too unpredictable and not worth it in my opinion...

    • Parking sucks and is often nonexistent!
    • Many restaurants do not have public restrooms!
    • The place that do have restrooms are absolutely merciless in their “paying customers only” policies!
    • Much of Philly is very nice, but there’s a good chance of ending up in an area that’s “questionable” at best.
    • The most obvious issue is the traffic!

It’s looking like I’m not going to get raked over the coals too badly when I file my tax returns this year, but being a glorified delivery driver is proving to be more trouble than it’s worth.

Unless I'm between jobs again, which is not likely...

Unlike my job at the detail shop, I make the same out of money per week no matter what I'm doing!

Also, a big problem is that the Doylestown area is absolutely saturated with DoorDash drivers...

It makes it harder for me to get the most lucrative deliveries!

I've put more than fifty miles on my truck in one day making deliveries before...

My record was when I still worked at Puck though; It was right before Thanksgiving Eve in 2017 I believe...

The liquor warehouse in Bethlehem was offering the best deal on a bulk purchase. My boss and another employee drove up there first, only to realize that they'd forgotten the check. I was less than 10 minutes from the warehouse when she called me and said that the check was still back at Puck, and that I'd have to go back...

So I had to drive back to Puck after having driven more than forty minutes up to Bethlehem, pick up the check, drive back up to Bethlehem, pick up the booze, and then drive back to Doylestown...

I put about 170 miles on my truck that day!

I was getting paid ten bucks an hour and getting a free dinner out of that one though...

I drive in Pittsburgh for LYFT and Uber. I drive a KIA Soul. I just bought a 17 DCSB OR with 20k mileage as a backup vehicle for snow.
I also own an 04 Taco ECSB OR.
