I built one a couple years ago. How would this stack up today.

nah you could run gta 5 on low settings

 

Hmm that's from the era of my Phenom X4 build, so you'd struggle to do anything without going to the lowest settings or running a really low resolution like 720P.

 

The PC was able to run battlefield 3 on medium settings. I remember it was playable.

 

Yeah, BF3 came out 9 years ago. That's a long time in computers though like I said some simpler or lower resolutions would be playable.

And since having a kid 18 months ago all i sue now is my Razer Laptop with a 2070 in it when i have a few minutes to game. So the rig collects dust. But when i do get a minute to game, its glorious.

 

I have this guy, and it does well, but it's too big. I can only use two of my four DIMM slots.

I have the Cryorig R1 Ultimate. Its every bit as beastly and effective as Noctua's big boy. With my Cooler Master xb evo case, my mobo lays horizontally so I don't have to worry about the cooler or gpu weight.

 

Cooler weight isn't a real concern on modern thick PCBs unless you're planning on transporting your tower after building it.

 

Or you could put something the actual size of a small cooler on your motherboard, I just remembered this thing is coming soon.

To be honest I might grab one just for testing when they hit market. The tech behind it looks extremely promising.

 

Hadn't really thought of putting it on the back. I can't put it on the top as the motherboard gets in the way. This was a cheap case that I plan on replacing soon. I had this case laying around from a friend's PC I was building that he decided he didn't want it. So I'm no loss for a case.
