    Anytime someone says, BMW, Tesla, Mercedes, Porsh-á (only way you can say it), corvette, pilot, CrossFit or vegan... I do the same thing.

    I have more respect for the men and women of the Coast Guard than any other service. I heard stories of pulling fishermen off boats in Alaska during the middle of winter or landing shitty little helicopters on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico during tropical storms.

    Cerner sucks. Our Health Systems Sites ran it along with Florida and Az. Cerner does not play well with others. They don't expose API's and you play by their rules. Foundation we had GE, I spent years getting all the Health Systems imaging systems standardized and doing migrations into a central common app then we put in Epic everywhere. Huge improvement. Did I mention Cerner sucked? No surprise to me that the VA selected it LOL. If they get it to actually work across the VA system and meet the VA needs then I would be very surprised.

    Think the Admiral is German.. He ended up buying a house in SD where we pheasant hunt and saved a lot in State taxes. Enough that it paid for the house in a couple of years.

    I kept a Washington State drivers licence for quite a few years for that same reason.

    I made Chief on the America, was on her in the mid 80's through Desert Shield and Storm.

    ASVAB scores for entry into the Navy and AF are about the same. Or at least were, I have been retired for more years than I was active duty now. Marines are higher than most realize. The Army however will take rocks with lips. And last day of the month sometimes rocks with no lips. And if they don't make it at that point they put them in the National Guard then they can go active duty Army. On recruiting duty we all sent a lot of applicants down the hall to the Army.

    Oh and if you are on a ship that doesn't have those stupid aircraft and airedales on board you don't have to smell JP5. I was damn near 30 before I realized fucking aridales was 2 words and not one. Damn baby shit brown shoe wearing mother fuc... :p

    That is because you were on board the "New" Navy where a lot of money was spent on habitability. In the 70's and early 80's didn't have stalls for most shitters. Got to keep the little prissy princesses happy though.

    Theres been quite a few changes since you retired. All branches need similar scores, it’s the job fields that really restrict what scores are needed. The reality is, every branch has its bag of turds and we all play the game of changing them or kicking them out.

    Idk. At the most we usually weed them out as seamen before they even get to A school. Even then, I swear the CG gets a ton of super smart nonrates that aren't your typically 18 year old rock. Definitely can treat most folks like adults, at any rate.
