I did indeed! Contacted Brad at @usoffroad if he would be interested in doing a group buy. He was a little apprehensive bc past group buys weren't that successful. Thought maybe I could get 5 people together and it would work, but then he said if he were to do one, he'd need 10 peeps. Well I got my TW stocker hat on, and started searching through old treads of people interested in low pro style bumpers and started PM'ing them and posting the group buy thread in other forums and everywhere I could and about 10 or 11 days later we had all 10 spots filled. So yeah, pretty happy with the results and can't wait to get it here and installed.
Now I just need to get me a winch b/c I sold my other one with my last rig so JB @Built2Ride sell me one yo!

    Good work.

Hard to beat this one for the money... https://amzn.to/2vgJOUZ

Spending a few extra hundred for the name doesn't seem worth it IMO. And this is the VR series which when I was looking was their cheaper version but can't see the old 9500 so I'm not sure.
    https://amzn.to/2PwNWaf

Superwinch used to be priced in between and was my second choice but.. guess not any longer.

    Thanks!
4wheelparts has the same smittybilt on sale right now making it $485 shipped. Not too much cheaper but a little. Gonna have to do some snoopin' to find me the best bang for the buck.
Also need to decide if the synthetic line is worth the savings in weight.
    100ft 5/16 cable weighs 17.3 lbs. synthetic 3/8 100ft weigh 3.4 lbs.
roller fairlead weighs about 11.5lbs, aluminum hawse is about 1.5lbs. so its only saving about 24lbs up front.

I might just buy the smittybilt xrc 9.5 with regular cable and call it good.
    it's only $271 right now.

Just my opinion, but the one thing i wouldn't skimp on is synthetic line. Not just for weight but ease of use, less chance of injury, easier on gear.

Like I've said before, upgrading from cable to synthetic down the road means replacing a lot of stuff including your snatch block. Cable is a pain in the ass when it's cold, you don't want to touch it with bare hands unless you like the chance of a stray wire going into your hand... It's just not worth it. I'm speaking from function over form, I give zero shits about #expo and Instagram bullshit or impressing anyone, I wanted the best bang for the buck for being used in tough situations.

And the one argument other than the name is speed of the winch. If you're stuck in the middle of nowhere and your only way out is a winch, do people really think they'll be upset if on a full pull, it takes 45 seconds vs 64 to complete the pull. You'll already have 20 minutes into assessing, rigging, checking...

Yes there will be some one situation steel cable may be better for. If i was set at a monetary limit and it was harbor freight winch with synthetic vs warn with cable, harbor freight it is.

My Smitty x20 was used a TON in the year i had it. I did remove the rope from the winch twice and soaked it in water just to clean it off after getting it a bit too dirty, but that's all the maintenance it needed. If you let dirt and crap stay in there it can decrease it's usable life.

In the end, it ain't my money, just trying to shed my hands on point of view.

Don’t get a cable winch bro. Get the synth. Cable winches are just a bitch.

Yeah... MAG knocked it out of the park on the GB!

This may help... or not, winch selection article I reference along with all of our products as it's a common topic of discussion. https://www.usoffroad.us/winch-selection/

We've narrowed our offerings down to Warn and ComeUp but the article is still valid.

Welcome to the GA section brad haha.
I had a winch in my 4runner for 10 years and used it 4 times. Never once to actually get me out of anything haha. And i wheeled that rig from tellico to holy cross. So I guess with this new truck that won't get run nearly as hard, the winch is more of a peace of mind in worst case scenarios so I have to find a good balance between quality and budget.

And if you're in the GB mood again maybe this guy could use your help since relentless fab won't make a model for the 05-11 2nd gens. I may have just created a group buy believer in you haha.

Mine is roughly 7yrs and as energetic as the day I rescued him in over 5 years ago. 110% effort in *everything* he does. He's gotten more protective over us and our other rescue, but that's how Houlas are as they get older. Dude is amazingly smart and caring. He even wakes me on the weekends by putting his feet on the bed and does a single tap with a paw on my shoulder every few seconds until I wake up
