Tell ya what when I was younger I used to BBQ year round no matter the weather. Now we’ll when it’s super cold out not so much. That is unless I have the smoker then I just get er going and I don’t have to babysit the pit.

    13 teams?

I’m just screwing with ya man. My nephew plays ball competitively and his teams are damn good. Couple tourneys ago we watched them get owned by a far inferior team twice.

I could not sleep last night and was messing around trying to design a metal building to back my pit in and cook inside. Was getting very spendy quick.

Pleasant Grove is by no means inferior. They're the current state champions lmao

    Beer butt burgers!
Got this recipe off of a 4wd show lol.

I usually cook it in a Dutch oven on the bbq, I'm sure you could use whatever in the oven and get similar results!

You can change up the ingredients to whatever floats your boat.

Your gonna want a couple pounds + of burger for this if you feeding 4-5 people. You can probably get away with a heavy pound + if it's just 2 of you. 20% fat preferred to hold the burger together.

Make a 1/2 pound + patty and flatten it out to about 1/2" to 3/4" thick. Make it wide enough that you can wrap the sides up about 1-1/4" up the sides.

Stick your favorite cold beer in a can in the middle if it and start wrapping the burger up the sides, molding it around the can until you create a cup when the cold brew is taken out.

I throw a little olive oil in the bottom of the Dutch oven to keep the burger from sticking to the bottom. You might need to also, you might not...

    Drink your cold brew...

    Open another beer...

Cook up and throw in whatever ingredient you like! I find bacon goes well with some mushrooms and onions.

    20180623_193343.jpg 20180623_193940.jpg

Next add a small amount of your favorite marinara sauce (spaghetti sauce) to the top of your burger and it's fillings, then pile on some cheese on top!

    20180623_192710.jpg 20180623_193006.jpg

Next, dump the remainder of your sauce into the bottom of the pan and throw some whole mushrooms around to bake in it. I also like to add a spoonful of pesto to the top of the cheese. Seems to add a nice touch to the over all flavor and end result.

    20180623_193424.jpg 20180623_193543.jpg

When your finished with this you better find your beer and drink it! It's getting warm by now! Lol

Next, cover those bad boys up and throw them on the bbq for 30-45min! I usually start them on a med high heat to get them going but once the sauce starts to bubble, turn them down and let them simmer on low.

Sit back and enjoy another beer chef, you've done well!

Done? Lift the lid and check them, you'll know when they are done ;)

I’ve often dreamt about building a nice mobile smoker/kitchen/serving rig and traveling to festivals and such slinging BBQ. Before I got into IT I was on a path to open a restaurant. IT paid my bills and is something I’m very good at so that’s the career path I went on.

Not what I meant. I meant that some times other teams just own you no matter how good you are. My nephews teams we’re FLYING state champs at that point and had destroyed every team up to that point. After some questionable calls by the refs I think they got into their own heads and down they went.
