I really wish they would have built a regular cab, 6’ bed, v6, manual, 4x4 & TRD OR package. I would have picked one up in a heartbeat.

They built a few of them in the 1st Gen Tacoma but not OR package. They are rare as hell but they are out there. Good friend of mine has owned one sense it was new. Great little truck.

 

I agree. It’s one of the reasons I’ve never been that interested in a 2nd or 3rd gen. I’ve never understood why people in this country feel the need to drive around in small buildings on wheels. Here is an old pic of my truck next to a 3rd gen...

 

Well it’s a new truck so the 3rd gen interior and ride blows the 1st gen out of the water without a doubt. I use a beater 04 for work and I am always happy when I get to drive home in my 3rd gen.

 

I agree the interior and ride are a lot better, but like you said it’s a new truck so I would hope so, but the interior and ride is probably the last thing I think about when I buy a Toyota.

 

I’m thinking of selling a full size truck and my 1st gen and getting a 2020, seems like the perfect size for me right now.

They didn't have a Regular Cab in 2015, I believe 2013 or 2014 was the end.

 

I bought my RC new in 2012 as soon as I heard they were discontinuing them. I really like that it still feels small to park and maneuver around town. I'll never sell this one. Haven't ever seen another RC in Spruce Mica.

 

I come from and f250 on 35mts, its small enough.

 

Totally agree. I had several first gens (96, 03, 02, 03) and liked pretty much everything about them except that miserable bench seat. The ride was remarkably smooth (considering) and the 4 cylinder never missed a beat. Now have a 2016 extended cab. The ride is rough, the electronics are complicated, and it barely fits in the garage. Maybe a 2004 with bucket seats?

 

I really like your 1st gen double cab. I think they are the best looking of all tacomas. It's on my to buy before I die list.

 

Those trucks you listed would all be Gen 1, the 2nd Gen ran from 2005 - 2015.

 

40K a year in miles, towing 8K for some of that, you think about ride and comfort and interior. Not everybody uses them to drive across town on Sundays.

 

As truck manufacturers were going bigger, gas prices were still relatively cheap. That may have been a factor on going bigger.

I am glad my Tacoma has BSM, Parking Assist and a backup camera.
