    -2.5/1.5 spacer lift -270/65/17 Cooper AT3
    I have stopped using my ebrake this winter because it is freezing the rear drums up. So when I park on my driveway (a fair incline), I leave my manual trans in first gear with no ebrake.

    Last few days I have noticed that as the weight of the truck settles back onto first gear after I shut it down, it settles back a notch or two and creaks a little.

    Am I putting first gear under a lot of strain? Over time will this be hard on my transmission?

    It sees more stress than that when you're driving it. Parking brake is preferable, but I don't think you're going to blow anything up.

    Probably not a bad idea. I just know I’m gonna forget to unchock one day :) I leave pretty early and am usually half awake

    Just tie the chock to your bumper with a rope. That way it'll come along :laughing:

    The harbor freight ones are tough, I’ve forgot a few times and they held the truck.

    Also should cut your wheel towards the curb so if the truck rolls back the front wheel will be chocked by the curb.

    Yeah, no curb. If it rolls its either in the street, my front yard, or neighbor's yard.

    I wouldn't do it personally. I would chock a tire as others have stated. Even it it's just some 4x4 cut into little pieces. If you forget it and it gets lost, no harm

    Why wouldn't you? Stress on the gearbox? Chance it will slip out of gear?

    Ive seen vehicles roll in gear. All that is holding it in place is the compression stroke in the cylinder. If the weight of the truck is enough to push the engine through a compression stroke it will slowly roll away.

    Grass damage is expensive........ some kid destroy a middle school grass field and got caught damage was up to $15k+.....

    My Ebrake used to stick so I fixed it.
    Leaving in gear on slopes is OK too.

    Same. I used to drive a large heavy truck, in the mountains, with a very worn out Chevy small block and no parking brake. If it was fully loaded I had to drive around looking for flatish spot or it would roll off. Never really was a problem, but it easy could turn into one.
