The biggest cohort in history, the boomers are now at retirement age. When people like this get scared that's how markets get shot. I can't blame some of them for looking for the exits the one luxury that some of them don't have is TIME. If they guess wrong and hope this is just temporary it's a huge risk they take.

I’m going to wait till Tuesday. I have a big lump sum I’m going to lay down on the s&p 500 index. I’m just trying to hit the bottom but if I don’t it’s not a big deal I’m in for the long term

I pulled most of my money out of stocks 3 weeks ago and just let it sit. I can’t believe we didn’t have a market correction sooner. I got real nervous when I heard everyday the market is setting records and China is shutting down.

If you didn’t pull your money out you will be fine. I’m guessing by the end of the year the market will be setting records again

Yup, this is why I haven't bought any stock for the past 6months. I almost wonder if this coronavirus is a "convenient" crises to smoke screen the real crises which is china slipping into a major recession and their expansion bubble popping. A nasty flu that kills mostly old people or people already sick causing this big of a hoopla has my bs meter flickering pretty good. Either way it's a storm to be weathered!

That's just my Saturday afternoon pontificating.

Little bit of this and a little bit of that but stock af.
Not to great of news in the Bay Area, a case was discovered in Palo Alto and mountain view. Costco is crazy right now...maybe a good holding to look at. Everyone stocking up on everything because of talks of possible shut downs...

I see the economic impact on factories being shut down but I just don’t see the severity of the virus, it spreads fast but it’s only lethal in severe cases the severe cases are typically older people.

This may be the cynic/theorist in me but it seems like an engineered virus to impact the older population as part of population control in countries that have sub-standard medical care.

A big part of the current selloff is the computers doing the selling. They don't usually do the buying, people have to decide when they're ready to do that. I have a feeling that when people see the money just sitting in their accounts because the computer sold it, they will buy back in. I think the market had gone up too fast so far in 2020 so I don't see it getting back to that level, but companies will keep paying dividends so you have to buy it to get the dividends. I didn't sell anything this past week but I did get some dividends and will next week as well. With lower prices, you can get more shares!

Interesting, looks like if it does start going up, there may be another drop post March 23rd if we are going off coronavirus news. That's when the WHO has to publish its report for their pandemic bonds to pay out. Interesting stuff and follow the money I guess and they may be incentivized to keep this going for a while to get their payouts. This was not ment to to get political, just some information to make some potential money plays around.
    From the article:
"Funds can only be released after a certain amount of time and in accordance with complex criteria including outbreak size, growth rate, deadlines and death tolls. In the case of coronavirus, the bonds would not pay out until 12 weeks after the World Health Organization (WHO) publishes its first “situation report”, which would not be until 23 March. Another criterion is that the outbreak is still growing."

Just put my first few bucks in on BTC, been watching it for years and never had the need/want to so I'm late as hell to the party. Trend looks downward but I plan on keeping slow steady buy-ins for now, let the pennys add up. Better late then never I guess.

This dip has corrected the prices to levels from.... 4 months ago.

I can understand moving money out of stocks if you plan to retire soon tho, it would be similar to selling... 4 months ago lol.

An average recession is about a 32% drop. I'll throw extra money in then, otherwise I'll just let my 401k dollar cost avg this in.

Agreed. 2019 was such a good year that this dip, although quick and unexpected, has not rewound us very far.

So far my two portfolios (one if I held, the other de-risked on Monday at market close) are 5.2% different from each other. So yeah not a huge difference at the moment!

    Futures down 3%+

That was according to StockMaster. It’s different on CNBC, still down 1%+. Not sure which one is right.

Sucks I'll be in all day conferences the next 2 days, watching the numbers/charts wildly swing with the news was quite entertaining.
