And just for the record my leaf springs are flat also.the holders for the leaf springs all have air at the top of them.never in my life thru driving tons of trucks and owning 5 have i ever experienced this bs in driveline nor having to throw parts at something time and time again to just turn around and the same problem exist.

ive narrowed my 2012 vibration down to the torque converter. it happens between 40-50mpg. I can feel it in the center of the truck near the center console area.

The dealership replaced ujoints for me while doing the frame. Terrible vibrations after when none existed before. They blamed it on the lift and wouldn't do anything about it. I brought the truck to a driveshaft specialty shop and he had it all fixed in a day. The shop owner said that the driveshaft was completely out of balance and one of the u joints were put in wrong, said I was lucky the thing didn't fly apart on the high way. Anyways I wrote a letter Toyota and told them what the driveshaft shop said and provided a number. I said i wanted to be reimbursed for the work that was done. I received a check from toyota with no response shortly after that.

Bought mine certified pre-owned at a Toyota dealership and it had separated belts on all 4 tires, the inner core was loose on the driveshaft and the transfer case mount TSB had not been done yet- (so what's the point of 'certified' pre-owned?). The only stipulation I made when I bought the truck was that the acceleration vibration be fix (I assumed it was just a U joint). Took the truck back to the dealership 8 times over the first 6 months of ownership. After 6 months they refused to do anything else to it (conveniently the CPO warranty is 6 months).

I have had to add washers to space the carrier bearing, replaced all four tires, replaced the front suspension & rear springs/ shocks with 2018 3rd gen leafs and I still have vibration (it is not as intense- but still there). Next is a custom driveshaft with dual carton joint.

Mine is a 2012 as well- I hope it's not the torque convertor or this truck will be going up for sale. Haven't sold it yet because it is the highest rated mid-sized trucks in crash tests, it's low mileage and by the time I sold it and bought another truck I will have spent the same amount as fixing all the Problems caused by the Toyota engineers.

^ I think that is what the Toyota engineers are doing instead of building quality trucks!

Sadly Toyota no longer builds the reliable, drive around the world trucks that they used to. They are just like the rest of them now and build disposable vehicles.

Exactly to your last statement...in no world should somehave to pay good money and have a drive line issue.NOT EVEN W 100K ON IT should it have some factory issue thats never been addressed....i will be welding a peice of tube about 6 inches back from the front leafspring to the frame and adding custom made coul springs above the rearend....after i buy some new springs and install them....like i said before.shoulda bought a chevy.

    I bought a 13...low miles....first Tacoma.
    Let’s see.
It spark knocks. New plugs...93 octane...still knocks. Even had ECU reflashed via tsb....still knocks.
Axle wrap...there’s axle vibration, so I put on Roadmaster active suspension. Still vibrates when taking off.
    2 bad tensioner pulleys
Had to install bed braces because of the known issue of the weak bed supports.
Haven’t bought the tailgate reinforcement yet.
Such BS surrounding these trucks and their resale values. I’m done.

Dude just get rid of it, trade it in.. these trucks are well known to have weak leaf springs.

2 things to realize after buy a taco. Replace the factory leaf springs and driveshaft and all is good. I put OME dakars on a 1 piece driveshaft I cobbled together from a 4runner. My truck never has had driveline vibes since then.

The fellow that rebuilt my driveshafts balanced them, but even afterwards the 2 piece driveshaft sucked ass. 4runner double cardan shaft is what will cure your problems.

A straight shaft isn’t available for the 2wd as it’s too long. Again it shouldn’t have to be replaced either.
I got a frontier rental to go buy the Tacoma....that was a nice, smooth, and quiet truck.

Oh I forgot about the water in the fog lights....another “common” issue.
