Even though it was locked (I checked every night after walking the dog)
They got my Bluetooth receiver, a leatherman knife, and my sunglasses.
Nothing much, but a pain in the ass and the fact that someone opened my truck without my keys.

Do you have any recommendations to prevent this from ever happening again?

    Thank you

Lock your pick up with the button inside the door, do not use the remote. This happened to someone I knew, just in the short time they were in the bank. Sorry about your stuff.

No broken window? They probably had one of those fancy scanners that reads the security codes or something. Forgot the name of it.

On the bright side they didnt get much and didnt damage truck.

In terms of it happening again. That's tough, if it's done once and they found it easy. It may just happen again. Maybe an afterm security system with tilt sensors. Or keep a wolf in the backseat

I can't get a gun right now, but as soon as I can I will. And I'll get a fishing line from the door latch to my thumb as an analog alarm :laser:

Just make sure you keep him fed when you're in the truck.

It's the second time it has happened in a month. First to my landlord and now to me.

Ahh, Cali. SO glad I left there. I have been here in CO now for 26 years... now all the Cali folk are here. Gotta move again .. lol.

I can only suggest leaving nothing of value in the truck. The cheapest method to be safe probably.

At least they did not break your window. When I lived in a downtown area, I had someone recommend to remove all valuables and leave the doors unlocked, just so that they would not beak your windows.

Smith and Wesson is great but if you shoot someone for breaking into your truck, you will be the one going to prison for a long time. I live in California and am ccw. I know if I ever have to use my weapon because I fear for my life, I will be at least sued and may incur legal expenses. That’s why if you carry you have ccw insurance.
In this stupid ass state of California breaking into a car and stealing less than $950 of stuff is a misdemeanor. The perp will basically be written a ticket if caught. This law came into effect over a year ago and car break ins in Cali have skyrocketed. In SF alone they have and average of 70 plus car break in’s a day. About the best you can do is park in a highly visible well lit area and hope for the best. Leave nothing of value in your vehicle. I know of some people who leave nothing in their car and leave the doors unlocked to avoid getting their windows broken.
In Cali you can run into a store grab $949 worth of merchandise and if you get caught you get a misdemeanor ticket and are cut lose to repeat your crime.
Be vigilant and always be aware of what’s going on around you.
