I had a great experience when purchasing my Tacoma last August. The salesman and I agreed to a price using SMS ($5k off MSRP) and no games were played when signing the paperwork at the dealer.

I told the finance guy if he can sell me any product he offered such as an alarm, extended warranty, etc. that he would be the first finance person to pull that off. He had me out of his office in only 13 minutes.

First time I have heard my profession being compared to a car salesman, but that is cool.

I once told a pushy F&I guy that it was against my Religion to buy Extended Warranties, that saved me about 10 minutes.

That's basically how I did it with my 2020 OR. I emailed about 8 dealerships asking how much off MSRP they would sell a specific truck on their lot for, and included the VIN# of the one I was looking at on each of their lots. Most replied with an offer. One dealership in Orlando emailed back and said "state regulations don't allow us to give quotes over the phone or by email, but wedw love for you to come in and speak with a sales rep."

I replied immediately and thanked them allowing me to to quickly eliminate them as anyone I would ever do business with. I then blocked their email account, and moved on. I figure if you are already acting like a lying scumbag, and I haven't even walked into the stealership yet, probably best to avoid.

I’ve been emailing 3 dealerships about 3 different trucks this week. One of them won’t stop, I told them I would be in touch. Give me some space, goodness.

our daughter totaled her Renegade so she had to shop for a new car she did a Ford VW FCA Kia Humdai Toyota Subaru Dealer.

Just to test drive at the Ford Dealer was a walk out on our side same with the FCA Dealer VW was just awesome super nice people explained every function on the car and let her drive several different models. Kia Humdai and Toyo very nice to deal with and very easy going she drove several models and the sales/Management Team was excellent. All 3 called back after a week to check in and to find out if she bought a car yet. Most pushy was Ford and FCA not even a Mile down the road she got text messages and it never stopped. She had to block them She ended up buying a Crosstrek a week later after the test drive at the Subby Dealer because the team made an honest afford to find her the car she wanted Color packages etc etc for the best price possible and gave her a tour of the service Dept. Her payments fit into her budget since she is going back to College her Mud got plenty of room in the rear and she likes the car. If she just would find a guy now that takes her out of the house for good my life would be a whole lot easier.......:D:D

Its no one else’s fault but yours for not reading the fine print. The discount was offered when I got mine. I read and seen the stipulations and realized it didn’t include me. Hell I did 20 years, multiple deployments... not just a couple years, wasn’t the least bit offended. There also wasn’t a long line of protesters bitching about false advertisement.

Bro, I literally read the fine print. There was none stating it was an active duty discount only. I gave the sales manager the benefit of the doubt and asked him to show me where that was stated in the dealer’s online listing and he was unable to do so. Which is why he quickly scampered off to print a new price sheet with the discount.

I do love folks who make assumptions though.

You’re “assuming” it was false advertisement. Guess that makes us both assholes “bro.”

Btw- It was in the fine print.

I’m not really sure how my story triggered some folks, since it has literally nothing to do with veterans’ benefits (or freebies, or discounts), but I think your energy could best be directed elsewhere. So could mine. Have a fantastic night.
