Sounds like you made the right choice. If you feel that way now, imagine how you would feel married. Then it would be too late and even harder in the end.

She has really helped me so much over the last couple years. She works with finance and got my credit back up, back in school, help with my loans. So much. It wasn't fair to her.

Thanks man I appreciate and look forward to it.

That's what I keep telling myself. Better these things came up then later down the road when we're married, have a house or even kids.

Some pretty good advice in here. I went through a similar issue about 10 years ago (I was 25) it took me 3 or 4 years of working as a pipe layer <yep..i said it> to get figured out. Found a woman that LOVES everything I do (beer, football, wheeling, boarding, etc) and we've been happily married for 5 years. You'll get through it & find the perfect one, just don't settle ;)

sorry to hear man, almost sounds like my situation. ive been with my girlfriend for 3 1/2 years now. we have talked about marriage, buying a house, and a family one day. now given i have not made the best decisions while with her, and ive hurt her and her trust, she just cant seem to let things go. its been 2 years since our last big issue and she still wont let the past go.

i love her to death, but lately, well really this whole year ive had second thoughts about being with her. but itll mean throwing away almost 4 years of my life away.

hope it all works out man!

Good lord, this must be break up season. You're like the 5th one in a week, including myself. You'll get over it. I was with my girl for nearly 3 years and one day she just said "I don't love you anymore". Hurt like hell, but there's nothing you can do but cry and move on.

Well as I thought it through, you have to think if it's better to end things now then trying to end it while you're married. Just have to think what's best for you. It was the hardest thing I've done. Only time will tell now.

There shouldn't be any doubt with the one you're with, which I had, which I why I couldn't go on.

    Very good observation !!

Mike , it sounds like she has security issues, I've had GF's in the past that were the same way & there is nothing you can say to her that will heal these issues, no matter how sincere you are.

I know the first thing your told by others is to "get laid" or "lay some pipe" etc; Although amusing , its just a quick fix to compensate & mask your own issues with the matter IMO. Hey theres nothing wrong with 2 otherwise compatable people having different interest, its solid ground for the "we" as a couple & the "I" that you are still an individual too.

Shit I wouldn't want to be with someone that was exactly like me with all the same likes & dislikes, I'd end up strangling them in their sleep....

Like I've told another friend of mine going thru this: Time IS the healer, its both an enemy & a friend, but please go easy on her, you said that you still love her (just not IN love with her) I get that. But it seems also that she is obliviously still IN love with you. Be firm on your decision but be gentle with her feelings also, its a tough road but it can be done.... good luck & hope things work out for BOTH of you....

I never said I'm blaming it on how I was brought up. Clearly you read that wrong. I'm saying I'm not one who spills out their emotions, which in this case I couldn't tell my gf I didn't want to be with her sooner.

Thanks Doug, great advice. I have been easy on her, I know it's killing her and I hurts me that she hurts so bad.

She assumes I get hit on all the time at bars or talk to girls. I never do that, and never would. She said she could work on it, but its been almost a year and she can't seem to fully trust me.
