Alright, tell me what you guys think. I went into Big-O tires yesterday, because I am shopping around for some bfg ATs, and I happened to see an old freind (mmm aquaintence) that I hadn't seen in a long time working the floor. After getting the quote from their rep for 5 of these (about $1100), I went out side to say hi to this guy real quick, and he tells me he could get me the tires from the warehouse and have them shipped to my house for way cheaper; he said probably around $600. Uh yeah, that's sweet, so I got his number and I can call him to set this up soon. My question is, does this sound like something that an employee at a tire shop can actually do, because I don't REALLY trust this guy a whole bunch. If anyone out there knows (or even better works at somewhere like Big-O) if that sounds like a possibility or if it's just crap and he's going to try to make off with my money, let me know. Thanks a ton guys.

I really don't know what markup on tires are, but that kinda sounds like what the company would be getting them for. Also, ask to make sure they are legit tires and not the ones that failed QC. A tireshop once sold my dad some tires that failed QC for half off. It just ended up the white lettering was not as clean as they needed to be, so they could not be sold for full price.

600 is def a good price - but even 1100 for 5 tires is STILL a good price (if mounted balanced, aligned out the door). When I was shopping around for my BFG's, best price I found for 4 tires was about $1075

Yeah, well he says he gets them at cost, so that's kind of what I'm trying to figure out, if an employee can get thet kind of discount (which is huge by the way, and totally cool).

Damn people are paying a lot for tires nowadays. I paid $760 out the Door, mounted, with lifetime balancing and rotation at Americas tire.
