    Thanks for the compliment!

I didn't snap a photo of the hub, but when I went to the wheel machine shop the guy said since "it was a newer model it had the shorter hubs" and he already knew it would work. It may have something to do with the wheels too though, not too sure. Also not sure how new is newer, I was kind of thinking my truck is pretty old being a 2002!

Yours being a 99 though, and knowing they went from a 14" to a 15" stock wheel in 2001, maybe it was the 2001 refresh when this changed.

Wonder if you can remove the bearing cap altogether and use a center cap to keep dust out instead, or is this just a bad idea all together?! :anonymous::confused:

Hmm, I thought the hub was the same for all 5 lugs for 95-2004. I could totally be wrong though! And probably not the best idea to ditch the bearing cap!

Here's what my hub looks like. Is it the same as yours?

Here's with the wheel mounted, you can see how much the dome of the cap comes out beyond where the center cap sits. I can probably find a shallower cap but it's not high on the priority list.

I know on many vehicles the front bearing is sealed and behind the hub and you can run them for years without a cap, just wasnt sure how it is on the 5 lug since I just got it.

My hub came nowhere near that far out though..

yeah, ours aren't sealed. At least on mine it's not. Lots and lots of grease behind that cap. It's very curious that your hub didn't come out that far.

Thanks a bundle for the compliment!

I was thinking those wheel and tires were going to work out nicely after all my researching.. and when I saw them wheels pop up for sale I just thought they felt right and went for it.. but it came out waaay better than I expected all around and I still cant believe the end result, I am super blown away!!

And the handling, damn, it is like a whole new truck is the only way to sum it up.. :burnrubber:

I spent the day driving around just enjoying the ride and getting used to her new feel, it is easily the most fun I have had behind the wheel in quite some time and that is exactly what I was shooting for

This thread started somewhat scarce and bleak, but I think has definitely ended on a high note. Many thanks to all that contributed with their great pics of some sweet trucks that motivated me along the journey

I hope this inspires others to follow their dreams, even if those aspirations may not be for the masses... ;)

And heck, if someone else out there wants to get some oem wheels on their own first gen, please post them on up!

As for Trudy and me, we are just getting started...

No spacer, 8" wide wheel with a 45mm offset. I did need to get the center bores bored out at a wheel machine shop to 67.1 mm in order to fit on my 1st gen front hubs.
    20200330_182651.jpg
I believe the later F Sport wheels do runner a staggered offset and different width's for the front and rear wheels so keep in mind, but those would look great on a Tacoma. Mine is a non-staggered setup so I can still rotate the wheels and tires.

I think i answered my own question. Ive been in the PreRunner/4wd world for last 20 years. Different spacing for 5 than 6.

Correct, 5 lug is 5x114.3. Should be same as most Lexus 5 lug wheels.

Yeahp, try searching for your bolt pattern and lug space (5x114.3), and keep in mind the offset and even your center bore too. You'll see in this thread I needed to bore my Lexus wheels centers out to fit my 1st gen. Still super happy with the result:

Came out so nice, even donated a set to my Mom's Tacoma back on Mothers Day!
