    TripleThreat Truck Trials
I take my truck on trails and offroading but this is something new I have been getting into with my truck. I will post more videos up from each trip I make to the to see what this truck can do performance wise under different conditions and but together a multiple spectrum of what a Toyota can do!

I will post all Trials on this thread to keep it simple. I will probably need help getting this thing through the different set ups and I will video tape and document with pictures all the mods I come up with and complete to help out fellow tacoma owners on TW.

I will modify my truck according to the type of trial I do like I am currently fitting a long travel kit on my truck for offroad races. I know there are already pictures and videos of these trials including long travel tacomas but I am adding them to my website as a goal to get several different setups preformed with one truck being modified for each set up to show people what this truck can do!

I will include all the details, from the environment I test in to the setup I am using and will take suggestion from everyone on the forums as I go.

My goals is to get all of these trials complete and have them all in one place to be shown for all to see what we can do with our toyotas. I will be open to anyone wanting to participate in any of the trials if you are my area.

I will be taking my truck through multiple trials:
    -Towing Status: Completed

    -Long Travel Status: In work

    -Auto Cross Status: Completed

-Circut Track Racing (Speedway 2.58) Status: Completed

    -Drag Racing Status: Completed

    Drag Strip first video up!

(please let me know if there is another type of trial you would like me to try)

    Trials Post and Updates

I will be taking my truck through multiple trials:
    -Towing Completed
My truck was able to tow this Toyota 4runner which my buddy needed towed after buying it due to its drive train.
    Weighed: 4,639 pounds
    For: 3 Hours and 13mins
    Distance: 216 miles
Towed at an average speed: 55 mph using a two wheel trailer

Conclusion: Was able to tow 4,500 pound truck for 3 hours which shows what this truck can do! Did not mod my truck at all for this the trans cooler worked its magic and the scan gauge told me the transmission temp and such along the way. No issues! the whole way i'll see if I can do better!

    -Longtravel Setup: In Progress

This is why I kept my bed! I am able to remodel my house and I don't have to rent a truck since I still have my bed and outlet in the bed for tools!

Two months ago I purchased the Level 10 transmission gears, Valve Body and Torque Converter from Level 10.
I was excited working with my local Tranmission shop CDO transmission here in San Diego California!
Well two months later here I am finally getting my truck back on monday and now I get to fill everyone in so they don't make the same mistake.
Yes I drag race my truck but I also offroad it and i'm not the only one that has destroyed a transmission.
So three months ago I was driving normal highway driving when my 1st gear started slipping and it would release like I was in neutral then catch and i'd be off again. Soon all the gears where doing it. Then it wouldn't go into 5th gear since the check engine light came on and thats when I pulled over off the highway.
Soon I called the nearest toyota dealership Chula Vista and boy was that a mistake! They said since its only at 53,000 miles I was covered for my transmission.
Now my truck doesn't have a prerunner bumper or midtravel or long travel shocks. It doesn't have kings or fox 2.5s though now it does have king 2.5 front struts and is going to have long travel rear shocks once I get it into the shop at trac performance in march. It does have fiberglass front fenders, offroad lights, a supercharger, methanol injection and other engine mod goodies mostly unseen to the general toyota mechanic. After a week of working with the dealership and them saying they can't give me a rental untill the toyota corporate rep looks at it. They call and say they are waiting for the results of the oil analysis and that the service manager is the one that receives it. I get a call from the dealership saying that they can't fix it due to the heavy mods and lift kit and offroad tires and that the service rep was there.
I about lost my mind because I immediately corrected the service adviser "Bryan Trudell". One, I do not have a lift, body lift and that shouldn't matter! Two I don't have over sized offroad tires! I have 275/70/r17 BFG mud terrains! Now I have 33's since I got the truck back but I had 33's and they had the nerve to tell me that causes problems! I then asked to talk to the service manager "Greg Chalmers" who said there is nothing they can do since the toyota warranty rep said they won't cover it. On a side note I have this amazing thing I always leave on to see the mechanics test drive and work on my truck which is a vico view dash cam. Its located in the cab and records up to two days of video in 1080P with great sound! So I got that on with a piece of electrical tape to cover the light for the recording indicator light. Turns out not only did they not want to fix my truck but they lied to me on several occasions. They cleared out my speedo sensor codes on my ECU and told me they checked good. But I have a video of them talking in the shop where the service adviser tells the old mechanic "Joe Peter" to clear the codes and give it back to me. They also did an alignment not I understand mechanics have to trash talk some times. I had to return to the dealership because my alignment was still off when I left the dealership and this apprently is called being a "tweaker" where custmers complain about the small things. So because I returned to the dealership after an alignment was still off and my tires were still riding rough I am a "tweaker". Some how after I get my truck back the truck ran smooth as butter since I had another service team do my alignment. I refuse to ever return to this dealership and I have the videos to prove that they cleared the codes and vocal confessions. Please don't trust the dealership even if its free its not worth your brand new truck.

After all this I went to CDO transmission where my truck spent the next two months getting serviced I pick up my truck twice only to return it to the transmission shop because the torque converter gave way. The owner Art at CDO transmission told me some interesting things i'd like to share. The level ten torque converters are actually made by recon also known as trans star and they have had many issues with them. If you look online you will see many recent complaints and honestly the bullet proof torque converter they promise is less reliable then the Toyota OEM one. The price should tell you that since an OEM torque convertor is 928.00 before tax and a trans star/level ten "bulletproof" one is 498.00 before tax. Yet it took two torque converters to figure that out for me. I noticed "Pat" at level ten in New Jersey did not hesitate to send me a new torque converter but did want another transmission shop to look at it until talking with the transmission shop foremen. The last two months have been hell to finish this thing but I am happy to be able to even drive it though it shifts like butter now!

My truck has been in the garage for about a month between the MAF sensor and it running lean while I troubleshooted it on the weekends. I used CRC Maf cleaner to clean the MAF sensor but only after changing it out did I fix the issue entirely. Granted when it was running a rough idle it sound like a slow stroker V8 but even though it sounded bad ass really it was a bad sound for a 1GR-FE. I also put on a new filter and a sock to protect it from future sand and water. After changing out the MAF sensor I checked the throttle body and sprayed some CRC throttle body cleaner on the throttle body as well.

    The finish product

Ok so this mod took some time and you have to be careful not to destroy your micro board but it looks amazing.

    Tools:
    -Solder Tool
    -Solder
-Micro LEDs for your micro board
-some skills to pay the bills... and not mess up your gauges

First you need to remove the face plate to the speedometer/dash

Now remove the screws and take out the speedometer/dash itself and remove the skin

Now use your layout and plan which LEDs your going to switch out

Heres what it looks like without a speedometer/dash

    Heres all the different pieces

First Blue LED installed (Any color you want)

Heres my layout so I know which LED has been switched out and soldered

    My side by side

Only took me 1 hour
