I just did the DIY kit and it was easy-peasy. As a disclaimer though, I had the first gen so my knob had already been handled by MESO. Um, did I just say that? Well, point being that it probably came apart easier than a brand new knob.

That partly why I added a zip tie.

I’m wondering if you can use the ect button to connect to a front camera or even the puddle lights?

ECT button ("switch") is momentary kind. Not locking. If you have a Beat Sonic type camera module, it'll work. If you add a PAC-TR7 module to the ECT button, you can control the puddle lamps.

I’m ok with the momentary if it works. Just wondering if it would work. I have limo tint and it’s hard to see when I parallel park sometimes and wondering if it’ll work if I wire the puddle lights to the ect button because I only need it for a second. Or if I’m driving, I would only need the front camera for a second too.

I just drilled a small hole. Those plastic stiffeners and pretty thin anyway, the push through style worked perfectly.

So I want to wire my second switch to the wireless charger. I have the tr7. I don't know which wires to tap into. Any ideas?

I did mine today and I love it! It is easier than reaching out to press a switch back and forth.
It took me 20 minutes to connect the switch to the front camera.
What switch from anytimebackupcamera do you have? Is it the same as (see below) ?
    This is from their website:
    Wire Functions
    BLACK - Chassis Ground
RED - 12v Supply (RED wire from Override Harness ABC-28)
ORANGE - Rear Camera (ORANGE wire from Override Harness ABC-28)
GREEN - Front Camera (GREEN wire from Switching Relay ABC-RELAY)
    GRAY - Illumination - (negative/ground)
    BLUE - Illumination + (12v)

So, you tap one wire from the shift knob switch into GREEN from the anytimebackupcam switch. And then you tap the other wire from the shift knob switch into RED wire from the antbcam switch.
Trace the wires coming from the switch (will save you from confusion if you have multiple wires connected to the same switch wire.
You can pm me for help.

I assume that it is similar to the Auto Highbeam on/off switch per this post here

You don’t want to route it that way. I tried and during testing, going through the gears there just wasn’t enough slack.

You really need to stay to the left of the shift knob.

I guess I need to pull my center cover all the way off and take a better look and test it with the truck on and shifting gears. I never pull the console fully off the e-brake. It sure looked like there was plenty of slack, but I’ll take another look as I don’t want to have to repair this one.

I didn’t get to test this over the weekend with the beatsonic front camera kit. This weekend was all about the house so hopefully this next weekend

I hear ya. This weekend was all about the dogs. My Cayman’s been sitting under its cover for two weeks now waiting on me to do some paint correction. Washed it all clean 2+ weeks ago and haven’t been able to make time to finish.

Well routing it from the front to right side of the shifter it still needs to extend away (into drive…s mode). It maybe fine but it’s rubbing somewhere. If it’s routed to the left and up middle of the gear box it’s not likely to rub on or extend as going through the gears

edit: if you installed the 2nd version there maybe enough slack but the picture showed version 1 with the broken wire

I had gen 1. It died a few weeks after I got gen 2. Motivated me to install gen 2. I’ll take another look when I have it open in a few days.
