2 inch lift, 285/75r16, stock wheel with spacers

I have seen very mixed reviews about the fitment of 285s. Some people say a CMC is necessary, and some don't. If I did a 2 inch lift, and ran wheel spacers, would a 285/75r16 tire on stock wheels clear the stock UCA and not rub without a CMC? Minor trimming is expected but I don't want to to do a CMC. I drive a 2018 Trd Offroad. Thanks.

 

Fitment aside, another thing to think about is, unless you regear, E rated 285s are going to turn your truck into a snail. lol

 

Your question is too general. 285/75r16 with what wheel, what spacer, which tire? A 285/75r16 non aggressive AT will fit better then a big MT tire.

 

Stock wheel, 285 km3 or Toyo open country. Enough spacer to clear my UCA.... around 1.25 inches

 

I would say you’ll clear the UCAs with that setup. But.....my money is on you rubbing all over your body mount and inner fender. Based on your tire selection you probably go offroad so once you start stuffing tires it will probably just get worse.

 

You could run 255/85s on stock wheels and then not even need spacers.

 

I was struggling with the same choice and thought I wanted to run 285/75R16s. I decided on E-rated 285/55R16s on a truck re-geared to 4.88; it is getting decent mileage, runs dang great, and clears without a lift (OME 2" lift is sitting in the garage waiting for a nice day to get installed).

 

@cmntacoma any update on what you did and the outcome results?

 

I currently have a 2 inch leveling kit (Bilstein 5100s with a 1 1/2 block in the rear), and 285/75r16 BFGoodrich KM3s. They are on stock TRD Offroad Wheels. I was worried about them rubbing, however even at full turn they do not. I did not have to run any spacers, cut plastic, or do a CMC.

 

Funny, this post is 2 years old and got revived. I did the same setup and didn’t need spacers but wanted the stance and didn’t rub until adding the spacers but rubbed on cab mount and a little on the flair. A chop fixed that.

If not, you regeared the wrong way going from a 30" tire to a 28.3" tire. And now your truck looks like it missed leg day at the gym.

 

How are they not rubbing on the UCAs?
